im sure the promise of 800k "speaking" fees they give people in the revolving door of govt has nothing to do with the crony capitalism. all these phucks should be in jail

The goobment lets them do things that makes them too big to fail thats the point. Instead of bailouts, regulate so they cant get to the point of requiring a bailout to not crash society

Interesting facts about GME:
1. Short interest has only fallen from 141% to 139%.
2. GME institutional ownership is listed at 110%.
3. There are 3,635 hedge funds registered in the US.

To put the above into perspective, the vast majority of GME stock is owned by institutions. They're making a killing as prices increase. The vast majority of institutional short sellers are either holding, or they're covering and re-entering at higher prices. They'll make a killing whenever this comes crashing down.

There are a few hedge funds bleeding, because they were too deeply short to hold, but the vast majority are are making a killing. Wallstreetbets thinks that they're sticking it to Wall Street, but they're actually making them billions. When the dust settles, institutions will end up making a lot more from this than retail traders.

Based on the social media I’ve seen
-it’s more about sticking it to Wall Street than making actual profit
-many are encouraging investors to understand what they’re buying before buying
-people are only investing money they can afford to lose

However I do think the SEC intervention is a massive double standard. Have they put the shares into a trading halt? Surely that will effectively force everyone to hold until after the put options expire?

Idk anything about trading but it comes off like Wall Street changed the rules because they got played at their own game on something??

Is this what it boils down to?

I tried to sell my share in the extended hours while it was at $19-21 (amc) but stupid robinhood wouldn't fill the order on the extended hours despite being an option.. then they blocked buying all those stocks so it tanked everything.. I knew it was coming, I posted about it yesterday. I was ready to leave, they didnt let me. fukers.

It's 20K Australian and yeah I can easily afford the loss, just dissapointing. I have exited, if I didn't I would have lost 30K thanks to my stop loss orders. Overall it's not worth the stress, prefer to invest long term in blue chips and doing so has made me more money than these meme stocks which are usually volatile as fuk

I suppose we were all arrogant little fgts in our teens and v early 20s.

Glad OP can see right through the bull****. Hedge funds aren't bankrupt after this, but a lot of dummies are gonna lose their shirt after buying 20 shares of GME at $300 because someone on the internet told them it would make them rich.

It showed a tiny bit of light of what is capable if the average guy unites, but the problem is that the average guy is more susceptable to fear than the Wall Street guys.

Eg. It will take an equivalent of 1000000 neckbeards and their meagre savings with full unity to match a spread of a single hedge. Problem is there are multiple hedges and whales riding the wave and dumping who are laughing their way to the bank.

so rules for thee, not for me. phuck you OP. The market is being manipulated by not letting people purchase this stock. Some big hedge funds made a play, and got called out. NOW they are crying for regulation for us peasants. They do this shiet all the time, but we can't buy a stock?

Because of this craze I put some money into AMC stock.

I put an amount, $1000, that I could easily survive without if AMC went all the way down to $0, and still be in the same place financially. Debt free, low CoL, young. So far it has dropped in value to where I'm at around ~$650 in value for that transaction. The hope, of course, is that it would've multiplied from $1,000 to $2,000, or perhaps pulled a GME and multiplied all the way to $20,000.

My motto: It's only a loss if you sell it at a loss.

I will not sell it, because that'll be accepting a loss. I will hold onto this for months, or even for years, until it actually rises above my buying price per share. AMC will come back after COVID, they'll adapt.

This is what I did in 2020. March 2020 I bought some AMC at $2.19/share. It immediately dropped to like $1.5 and below, and so I held onto it until I realized in June or July 2020 it would sell for ~3.5x the cost at $7/share.

It's a waiting game.

I feel bad for anyone foolish enough to take out loans, invest more than they truly should've, hyped up for a highly publicized, highly obvious, risky get-rich-quick-scheme.

The tortoise wins the race. And I will win by not panic selling. There's no need to sell when I didn't jeopardize my financial situation from my risky transaction.

You sound like an extreme *******. Why do you care what people are doing if it doesn't effect you? I for 1 would love to see some average joes make 6 figures to 7 figures off this. Seen some folks pay off $35k in student loans and was genuinely happy for them
