This was just last night: women love to be told what to do. She sent me an audio file at 10:30 last night using her vibrator.

I've published over 50 short novellas (think as short as 40 pages and as long as 100+) across various sites. Had three #1 sellers in my categories and wrote over a million words last year. Originally I got into it hoping to make coffee money, and now it pays my rent. About a year ago I got into writing commissions (so requested stuff) where people send me their fantasies and I write the story for them. Sometimes VERY twisted and weird stuff. Recently I've also gotten into editing.

Hoping that by the time I'm 50 (I'm 46 now) I can quit my day job and work at this full time. Working on my first full novel (crime thriller) and also writing a children's book with my seven year old daughter I'm hoping to publish for her birthday this year.

Ask away!
Do you have a publisher?

If so, do they edit your work and so forth or must you do it?

Also, what was the process of getting an publisher?

I have a publishing house in Germany that signed me a while back, but they are small so only require a short a quarter. Doesn't really make any money. They found me on Twitter.

There is an event on Twitter called PitMad where people can pitch their stories to publishers worldwide with a summary tweet and often get picked up. Otherwise you simply submit stuff in the traditional way.

Thanks for sharing OP - repped you glorious, prolapsed anus-having *******.

I write financial stuff for work and this could be a fun/unique way to broaden my horizons. I would love to come up with the next Twilight (wouldn’t we all).

I came across a hustle article about a girl who writes ebooks for $1k/ea she made $367k or something last year.

I think you just sell them $1k/ea on Fiverr develop a strong review profile and then write a book a day. Maybe use a software to fluff up the language (textinflator.com). Write one book a day and you’re set
Posts are for fun, not to be taken seriously or as truth.

Wow, that's interesting!

What about editing?

That's a huge issue and is very expensive unless the publisher does it.

Also, if your writing is simple you may not need editing, but what is your experience?

I was lucky enough at the beginning to find an older guy who loved my writing who was also an editor. He basically asked for a shout out inside the acknowledgments and the ability to help me write them and he edited them for free. Also he taught me a lot about proper structure, etc. He was older so some of his language was too flowery for smut, but it helped a lot.

I know make money from this but op, are you really proud of what youre doing? That is, writing erotica?

Why not children's book or action packed fantasy?

I'm Catholic. So that may be why the sentiment.

I started with erotica because it was easy and shorter books are publishable and can make money. It takes time to learn a craft. I'm currently working on a crime thriller I'm really excited about and also doing a children's book with my seven year old daughter that I'm going to publish for her. Romance is huge but I've tried it a couple of times and it just doesn't work for me.

I'm thinking of pursuing writing myself. Nothing erotic, just a novel. How did you go about finding a good publisher? What steps did you take to get attention from publishers? So basically, if there was someone who had an idea for a story, wanted to get it published and distributed around, what advice would you give?

There's publishers all over the place. If you have a finished product, then all you need to do is send them a submission, which can be done online or you mail them out (some apparently don't accept anything but mailed submissions). Twitter is full of publishing houses, from small to big. My German publisher was a startup from scratch that focused exclusively on kinky erotica.

Honestly, do a search online for major book publishers and they will have a section for submissions.

How has this changed you? Is regular sex just boring to you now? Have you developed fetishes that you could've never imagined before starting this

Not at all. I can separate it easily. I've definitely found out about some kinks that I had no idea existed, but they don't interest me at all.

Definitely sometimes now I wonder what my friends are secretly into that I don't know about.

but don't you research how they plan to distribute your book? Or is that really left up to the author to get out and knock on doors?

They will only put together a plan if you're signed and are actually going to publish with them.
