Jfl at how worked up maskers are in this thread.

You wouldn’t wear one of those ****ty masks working around asbestos, and asbestos is much much larger than a Covid virus. The distance between threads is 1000x larger than the Covid Virus.

Now think of something 1000x larger than you.

It was obviously a metaphor as we were talking about viruses. The "protective barriers" are literally the only entry points for the virus of topic, and does not protect

It’s not a “Stanford study”, the author has a doctorate from the University of Portugal and works for Veteran Affairs in Palo Alto and the paper is published in a journal specific to far-out Medical Hypotheses. All of this has already been addressed and debunked where appropriate

At this point you do you, wear it or don't but I found these 2 lines interesting.

1.The article was written by an exercise physiologist and was published by Medical Hypotheses, a journal that says its purpose is to publish "interesting theoretical papers."

2.We tried to reach Vainshelboim by phone and email and did not receive a reply.

And I observed it was published in October of 2020, we know a great deal more since then.

although it is just a hypothesis and summarizing some available evidence, doesn't mean he doesn't bring up valid points and that there are other studies that point to mask mandates not being useful at all.

CDC has continually changed its stance on masks, funny how people cope about "we know more now" as if to override the decades of research on the subject.

imagine thinking a used condom over your mouth is in any way effective. enjoy your society of masks where obese karens scream at you for not caring about their health lmao.

I'm not convinced that masks don't work. It's the people that fail to wear masks properly
brb just gonna put it over my chin
brb wearing same mask for 2 weeks
brb touching the inside and outside of the mask every 5 min at gym after touching all the surfaces

Some decent and valid points in the article, but the 'effects' seem as if they Googled symptoms for something and just put everything in there.
brb have Patellar tendinitis because i wore a mask to gym

Using separate analysis of 23 observational studies, this meta-analysis found no protective effect of medical mask or N95 respirators against SARS virus [28]. A recent systematic review of 39 studies including 33,867 participants in community settings (self-report illness), found no difference between N95 respirators versus surgical masks and surgical mask versus no masks in the risk for developing influenza or influenza-like illness, suggesting their ineffectiveness of blocking viral transmissions in community settings [29]."

Not sure how this statement can be biased... Maybe you should read the entire article.

Is Texas covid rate going down at this rate BECAUSE of the mask mandate being lifted or despite of it?
Muh unconditional empiricism.

Guess what boyo, the tight standards in which they conduct alot of these pro-mask, pro-lockdown studies make them completely impractical for real world application. And this is an issue of research in many different fields, dieting, weight training and fitness being big ones.

Regarding the masks, they cannot account for the wide array of confounds like the various mask media or proper use. The latter including everything from how the mask is worn, to how it is removed/disposed of and how long it's used for. In fact many of these studies will indicate they instruct the subjects on how to properly fit the mask. This level of detail will NEVER BE REACHED in the general population.

So if you agree with the link, then describe the situations or settings in which a mask SHOULD BE WORN?
We can talk all day about what they don't do; now let's discuss when they should be used?

Exactly. The practice should have stayed where the fuk it belonged and where it's best exectued: in the health care setting.

Btw, can't wait for the studies about the impact of widespread mask use on environmental waste and energy consumption. Half the public venues in California are littered with the fukn things.
