Some tattoos are very tasteful, have meaning, and are overall great artwork.

I grew up having a negative connotation with tattoos so on average I will think that they are trashy or distasteful. Being a bit sheltered I always associated tattoos with criminality and in my limited experience that was true, so when I started working with people with full sleeves it took me aback a bit.

Also the places I grew up in the South and the East Coast very few people had tattoos and it was a social faux pas.

Now people get them to be "cool" or "rebellious" when many people are just conforming to social norms. If anything it is counterculture to not have them now.

I really don't see the point in spending a fukkload of money and getting something inked permanently into my skin just so I follow the trend and look 'cool'.

Tattoos in "the west" have always had a taboo of some kind associated with them.

-They used to be associated with primarily sailors starting in the (I think 19th) century.
-Since them then they have also been associated with criminals.
-Going back even further they were used by many empires to mark criminals or slaves.

-Personally I always wanted a few tats from my mid teens onwards, I thought they were cool as fark but I just never got around to it.
-So many people that started getting them (trend began early 2000s iirc) made them seem less valuable to me, less unique. Also the type of try-hard attention seeking types that started getting them and their corny stories about their tattoos put me off even further.

By that point I think my frontal cortex had developed enough that I just wasn't impulsive enough to do it anymore, when critically examining it the cons outweigh the pros for me.

But to answer your question, I don't hate tattoos per se but to me it does represent a lack of critical thinking and impulse control, so when I see a girl or a guy covered in tattoos it tells me something about them instantly that I don't need to wait for other signals to find out. Like other methods it's not 100% always the case but it's a vindicated perception more often than not imo.
I'm in the navy so a lot of my tattoos are traditional sailor stuff like swallows and anchors and things that represent events like crossing the dateline/equator, etc..

Every two weeks someone will make a thread about how much they hate tattoos. I have loads of tattoos, doesn’t really bother me if someone wants to be autistic on a gay Indian bodybuilding forum and have their voices heard.

Don’t care how hot the sloot is, having an arm sleeve or thigh tats is an immediate deal breaker. I cringe at the women on Hinge/Bumble that have a picture of them in a sexy dress/bridesmaid’s dress, but have a glaring arm sleeve.

NPCs can't override their vanilla programming so they default into hate when they see tattoos.

NPCs literally don't have the capacity to fathom getting a tattoo. They care so much what others think of them that they can't do anything of their volition.

Anyone who says otherwise is coping hard af
