After all they're threatening $22/hr aged care workers with $20,000 fines so maybe those on $400k+ taxpayer funded salaries should be penalised for every miscalculation.
They've had 18 months to build dedicated quarantine facilities instead of using CBD hotels built for tourists. The prime minister has sat back like he's done with every other crisis and allowed power hungry premiers to turn their states into prisons. WA premier said yesterday even if the vaccination target is reached he'll still be aiming for the pipe dream of 0 cases and if he holds firm expect other states to follow suit.
And this political freakshow defies all logic. A week ago a terrible accident resulted in the loss of a 5 month old. The devastated family arranged for two close family members from Sydney to attend her funeral. The Sunshine State CHOdeclined their request for a mandatory 14 day quarantine exemptionbecause Sydney is a hotspot. What are the chances two people in a city of 5.5 million averaging 300 cases a day would be positive?
Tell the world you can be an Australian citizen and shackled to a 5km radius with a curfew. Permits and passes to enter states. If you decide to roll the dice and cross the border when lockdowns are relaxed and one of those locations you visited is declared a hotspot upon your return you'll be treated like a leper.

Less accountability from a Federal level either.
Like you said for 18 months they've relied on what was supposed to only ever be a short term solution and they have faced no consequences for their mistakes. Their income remains unaffected and they've got power they never had before. In fact they keep giving themselves pay rises while allowing the imported virus which keeps crossing thousands of miles of ocean to slip through the cracks in quarantine. We pay the price for their incompetence with lockdowns. And of course if we don't follow every instruction to the letter they'll have the police force we're paying for fine us.
Quick comment on the economy. Tried to order some gym equipment from Rogue in NSW despite the site saying there would be up to a 10 day delay before orders would ship. My order never went through so I hit up Rogue in the ol' US of A and 6 hours later when it was morning on the east coast I got an email saying my order had shipped.
Cucksville closed. Uncle Sam open for business.
