As someone that was on the high-school wrestling team and started boxing at 13 and almost went pro I can honestly say I've never felt as emasculated as when I went to a Bulgarian Judo gym. I got thrown by a girl, I got thrown by a kid, one of the big guys was laughing at me while I was trying me best to get him off balance. It was like a nightmare.
I cannot imagine having to fight one of those Judo fuks in a club or something. If I don't KO them on the first shot my arse is getting thrown head first across the room.

BJJ is 75% ground work and about 25% standing. Not what you want for defense. Judo is the reverse; 75% standing and 25% ground work. Both create an advantage over size differences. Throwing someone on to hard surfaces can wreck someone pretty badly, and learning balance, footing, etc helps you stay on your feet. Judo is also better suited for multiple opponents because staying on your feet keeps you ready. Lastly, you don’t want to be deliberately rolling around if you are carrying a firearm.
Muay Thai helps you protect yourself from incoming strikes, teaches counter striking and balance. It compliments any throwing/grappling techniques.
On a final note, keep in mind these do not take weapons in to consideration. Most fighting techniques do not. In this case, an actual self defense MMA type of training is best. It combines all of these elements. For instance, this is what soldiers and police officers would be trained in. In fact, Japanese police are first taught and become proficient in Judo then move on to more combat style training. The US military has been traditionally trained in judo as well, but they usually create a complete system revolving around judo fundamentals

Wrestling and bjj are also good, but I feel Judo is more well rounded, and in real world application it is better to not end up on the ground if possible. Forget Kung Fu, I doubt you would be able to find a decent club and will be wasting your money learning how to play pattie cake and flailing your arms around like a spasticYeah, but if we're strictly talking self defense then imo legit Judo is better - real Judo has serious ground skills along with all of those throws that can be instant fight enders. Granted Wrestling (particularly Greco) has some of those, but Judo definitely has it more refined and at a higher level. For a strictly one on one/controlled fight (ie MMA or the like) then I do think Wrestling is the best foundation for sure.

The best one is the one you enjoy doing and fits what you are looking for. There is no one system better than another.

Best at what?
Effective, quick-to-learn self defence? Krav Maga.
Grappling? Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling or Judo
Striking? Boxing, Karate, Muay Thai, Kung Fu, Taekwondo.
Competition? Literally anything, but you might wanna consider MMA
