you don’t take your car if you know you’re going to drink. Uber there and home. Or have someone move it for you that’s sober.

Yeah that was my original plan but then I tried to save $$$ on an Uber by driving to the place sober. I didn’t plan on the 2 hour parking.

None but should have had at least 5 in my life. Once almost totaled my car hitting a curb but was extremely lucky (or dumb) that it happened a block away from my house. I was able to drive it home and call insurance in the morning. Have learned not to be so selfish any more.

0, but I've taken chances in my late teens/early 20s(Late 2000s/Early 2010s), and realized how much of a fkn idiot I was for doing so.

Then in 2015...me and my ex got rear ended as the only car at a stoplight by a drunkie going 50+ mph...think the Henry Ruggs incident at half speed and no dog/fire. We got sent into the middle of the street where any oncoming car wouldve ended us, but no one was on the street fortunately. Ex just had mild neck pain and I walked away unscathed.

That was a huge wake up call, and also now that I have matured a lot and have a lot more to lose, I will never do it.

If no one gets hurt then if you have one or two it’s not a big deal.

I have one and disclosed it for employment and it never got brought up.

A couple grand and a couple headaches (DWI class, interlock, probation, fees, etc.) but it’s like it never happened 10 years later.

If you start racking them up that’s when you might be at risk of losing employment, some jail time, etc.
Over the years DWI laws have gotten stricter and stricter, some states are worse than others like Arizona.

Of course if you say do a hit and run DWI with felony bodily harm, that’s when things get dicey for your freedom.

Zero.

I only drank twice in my life after 24oz of beer. I don't know if the food in my belly kept me under 0.08 or not. I was not caught. One time was when someone needed a ride to the hospital and did not want to pay for an ambulance or wait for a taxi.

I know a few people who got DUIs. They can be $14,000 and lost licenses in many states. People still get jobs.

One friend who was drunk fled the scene of an accident. That turned to felony. He plead temporary insanity and that he did not understand what he was doing at the time. Paid $5000 for a psychologist to evaluate him and testify he has a condition. He was offered a plea deal that would lower it to a misdemeanor, 30 days in jail. Sounds like he will take it.

The sad part is that it would only be over for people like us (in the misc) who follow most laws/rules.

The people who just DGAF, drive without insurance, without a license, drunk everywhere they go, they will get up DUI after DUI and courts won't really give them much jail time, and they will absolutely not listen to any of the other mandates or judge's orders, and just go do it again, and then kill someone.

But the soccer mom who had an extra mimosa at brunch and gets pulled over by an overzealous cop for an air freshener hanging from her window, and had one DUI 8 years ago in college will legit get her life flipped upside down.

Most states report DUIs to other states. I think there's only like 5 or so that don't, so your choices will be limited. Also can never go visit Canada if you have a DUI.

Zero,

First DUI should be revocation of license for at least 1 year, 5 years probation, and at least a $10k fine. Second should be a permanent revocation of license 10 years probation, and a $25k fine, given that no one was hurt and that the criminal in question didn't damage anyone else's property.
