Misc has lasted a lot longer than other forums out there. Reddit and ******** killed off a bunch of forums but the misc survived.
Closing it off might be the death of it though.

You're asking the misc to not be misc. Everything you've mentioned (manlet, haircel, rope) has been a pillar of misc for years. Misc at it's core is a coping mechanism for young men finding their way through life using dark humor.

This website just isn't as popular as it used to be. Supplements were a massive fad back in the day and there were cult of personalities around Rippetoe, madcow, Layne Norton, Bill Starr; 5 meals a day vs IIFYM, GOMAD etc

I think the owners could have done a better job of keeping up from losing customers to Amazon and forum users to reddit etc

This place lost like 50% of it's users in 2015. Then after 2017 or so it lost another 50%. It was still insanely active in 2014. Don't know what happened.

I've still not heard an explanation how thousands of users just stopped posting here one day
