Don't be so sure about that. Loads of Americans have no idea what caused the 2008 depression, 9/11 and the war after, the integration of media/gov't to dominate public narrative. Were all a bunch of rats in a maze too occupied with car payments and chasing poon to do deep dives on gov't foul play and scour the internet for truth. Just think of previous major events in the past 20-30 years. Most people can only parrot a few sentences regurgitated from mainstream media narrative about the events. Most boomers tap out of a conversation the second the narrative is canceled. This may be different since its an injection into our bodies instead of a plane or a war over oil, much more personal.

I know a guy who's 80 and had a heart attack.

I know his heart attack was caused by the vaccine because heart attacks didn't exist before the vaccine.

Most are doing 1/2 doses for Moderna if it's used as a booster.

Yeah, vaccines are beneficial for those who are immunocompromised and those who are elderly but there does carry some risks, particularly in a healthy younger population. Why does it have to be one way or the other without any sort of discussion or acknowledgment that there is nuance to this?

politics was always going to be injected into it regardless. even more so when you have things like vaccine mandates which have sweeping effects on people's lives and when rights/freedoms come into question.

it basically boils down to two types of people on the politics side

- people who trust everything the government, govt institutions say as well as MSM
- people who completely distrust the government, refuse govt imposing on them, think everything is a conspiracy by the govt


These two camps disagree fundamentally on almost everything so it is natural that vaccines become a part of it by default. Problem is it is these two camps that dominate the conversation on each side, with I would say the MSM/Gov't side winning due to shutting down debate and them having more power to steer the conversation where ever they want it. And they can conveniently label anybody who goes against their paradigm an anti-vaxxer, even if they have been vaxxed but are just against vaccine mandates or even pointing out that vaccines carry some risks to certain population subsets.

A lot of people whose opinions lie in between get caught up in that crossfire and sort of feel the need to pick a side. A strong action on one side is going to provoke an even stronger reaction on the other side and vice versa. Everyone is basically doubling down and somewhere in all of that scientific discussion gets lost.
