Most people like to be helpful, or talk about shared interests. Worst case they say "dunno, sorry".

Maybe try a different activity that involves more interaction with people? Some kind of team sport or cross fit maybe? Martial arts?
This is great advice. Along those lines I would say try BJJ (jiu jitsu)
That is as close and intimate as you can get with other individuals who arent your wife.
You forge a strong bond with your team mates as you go to war daily on the mats and a mutual respect and bond is made through that fire.

It seems someone made a complaint to reception as two manlet personal trainers spoke to me on my way out.
