I GUARANTEE calling bodybuilding not a sport is a major cope and that is all. If you break sports down to what their principles are, they align exactly with bodybuilding.

They need muscle and fat to do their job correctly. What makes them stand out and become pro over college is those guys have more strength and agility than the guys who only get to college.

Their job is to either stand still and not be moved, or push a guy that should also stand still and not be moved. Being fat af and having the ability to move for just about 3-5s at a time is their whole purpose.

If you're towing a heavy load - say your mother - up a steep hill, you'd pick a big fking truck with plenty of torque. This isn't going to be the fastest automobile around the Nürburgring, but that's not what it's there for.

Was just checking in to see if I was off spread and recharge though so i could neg u again. Which i am.

Forwards in rugby are probably the peak athletes in the world, or up there anyway. Running around near non stop for two 40 minute halves constantly interspersed with tackling or carrying the ball and being tackled, rucking, all involve a wrestling match against other big men, ending up on the ground, having to get back on your feet and carry on. Not to mention the scrums and mauls a huge shoving match between up to 16 men.

Anyone whose played will know what I’m talking about

Nick Bosa isn't exactly a wide receiver or running back (he plays def end) and check out his level of fitness. The dude is a beast. It's not the best pic but the Mercury News wouldn't let me get the full pic:
being a fat fuk isnt specialisation, its being a fat fuk.
Being fat makes you harder to move and allows you to gain as much muscle as possible to move heavy things. Hmm I wonder were this could be useful...

Having so much mass takes a tremendous toll on oxygen intake and energy usage however, so such specializations are only good for bursts of anaerobic activity. Reminder that there is no fatness requirement in the NFL for any position. These guys are simply the best performing for their role after being filtered through thousands of candidates competing for multi-million dollar contracts.

Oh right, but a real man's sport is golf. Nevermind.

nutrition and recovery is a massive part of all athletes life if they are true athletes and bodybuilding is the epitome of maximizing performance nutrition and controlling the body through nutrition and recovery.

Anyone saying bodybuilding isnt a sport is either less than a bodybuilder or jealous/coping.
I don't see bodybuilding as a sport because they are judged on their physique and how they look. much like I don't see beauty pageants as a sporting event. weightlifting is a sport because it's literally comparing performance vs performance. Bodybuilding is based on looks and subjective and they don't get scored on anything else other than how they look/posing routines in some competitions.

cbum was a high school athlete. but lets be real most of the guys on the open stage aren't all that athletic and don't focus on getting their numbers up on big compound lifts. Most pros do volume training. They have great genetics, great genetic response to gear, lift weights in a gym setting where everything is designed to be picked up and put back down, and yeah they dial in their diet pre contest but alot of them eat like crap in the off season to put size on.

Put any pro bodybuilder on a foot ball field and he would get rag dolled by some of the "out of shape" athletes posted in the op.

Even GSP said he used to just lift weights to look good for magazines and it in no way helped his ability in the octagon. Or look at guys like Cain Valesquez with his muffin top physique but insanely good cardio or DC at heavyweight looking sloppy but could still kick any ifbb pros ass 10x over.

There are other sports where judges give you ratings like figure skating, gymnastics and a lot of those wild snowboarding and ski trick sports we see in the Winter Olympics.

Bodybuilding is TOUGH. I saw it with my trainer when she got her pro card. I’d rather play a tennis tournament for sure! Bodybuilding is 24/7 diet and training.

yes but those athletes aren't just standing on a stage in a g string

I'm a huge fan of bodybuilding and not trying to take away anything from it, but it's hardly a sport imo
