Seems satanic as fuk. Especially bringing teams of nurses to each school and sucking the blood out of developing youth. And guilt tripping them by handing out "I donated blood" stickers. nothx

Blood is life. How is giving life "satanic"?
Helping someone live is pretty darn good.

Taking one's blood(life) and giving to a stranger. If a grown adult wishes to be generous with their own blood(life), sure go right ahead.

Age: 51 it might have been different in your era. When I was in school, kids did not donate blood after thinking it through and deciding to be generous. A kid shows up with crackers, a bandage on his elbow, and a red cross sticker to brag about donating blood to all his friends. Which creates fomo and other kids stand in line to give away their blood(life).

Question is, why do they target schools? I can't imagine taking blood from developing children is healthy. Admittedly, I'm no doctor and am too ignorant to trust science.

I hadn't done it for multiple years but recently got back into it and trying to do it every chance I can get. I'll hit 2 gallons lifetime donation next time I donate with one company/center that does it and then I have some other pints spread out from smaller donation services over the years.

Edit : I just scheduled my next appointment because of this thread

Just donated again today. I was supposed to donate a week or so ago but had to cancel for a meeting.

Officially at 2 gallons donated to Red Cross. I might check out some of the smaller donation centers next time - I've donated to them in the past but I'm not sure how many pints.

Donated blood 2 months ago.

This time, I'll have to sell plasma because I could use the money. :/

I did that during my college years. The best advise is to take the promo money and then not go again till they start sending "come back promos".

It probably would not be the best idea for me to donate blood. I'm not the healthiest person. But with that said recently started a book, about fighting cancer, and the author seems to make a point that donating blood can help fight cancer. I haven't gotten to that point in the book though, just briefly looked at the table of contents and read a few future paragraphs. She seems to believe to much iron is a problem.

Donating blood especially as you get older is a strong health benefit for men and and for women once they reach menopause,

reduces iron build up in the body.

Never.

Would only even consider it if it was a real.emegency local to me and the blood type was absolutely needed.
