Is there an alternate path to get where you want to be? Maybe a side gig, or volunteer work? Happen to have a big food bank nearby? One here was trying out producing their own frozen dinners from donated food to extend shelf life and to better serve people not suited to cooking for themselves.

How established and broad based is your current company? Any clues as to their cash situation? When there is a recession there tend to be more slow pays or just accounts with unpaid balances.

It's huge, fortune 500. There is zero risk of unpaid accounts fukking us over, tho the pandemic screwed with the restaurant side for a while.

I'm not all that interested in side work right now, but thanks you did spark a thought in expanding skill sets. I'm going to have a discussion with my lead tomorrow regarding his path. He's the only other guy with refrigeration experience and he probably has the best idea of where the company is going in that direction and whether my boss is blowing smoke and is going half assed or whether their expansion is legit.

Job 1 (current job):
$60k, 3-4 hours OT/week, bitchen schedule (M-F 7-3) I'm already top paid here and zero room for advancement. $25.50/hr currently which is top pay.

Job 2:
$60k starting (plus OT which would be extra), chit schedule (M-F 8-5). Lots of room to grow, top pay (Master Tech) $90k. $29/hr starting all the way up to $37/hr.

Both have take home vehicle. Both have 3 week vacation. Both tradie fixing chit jobs, Job 2 working on commercial/industrial equipment while Job 1 is all commercial.

Heavily considering chilling at Job 1. Perfect job, just boring and zero opportunity. With Job 2 I'd feel like I'm balling out of control with $90k, and this company is offering 3 weeks vaca to start and matching every other benefits plus some. Job 1 has such low stress load tho it's hard to leave lol.

I tell my guys to be honest with me and I don't get mad at what they tell me. Try telling him the truth. If you can't, don't work for him.

Well boyos I dun did it again and got some more offer letters. I swear interviewing is almost a sport right now lol. New job I'm considering is way way more compelling than anything previous.

Current Job:
$25.50/hr, $60k/year. Easy as fuk, literally the easiest job ever right now, no room to grow with regards to pay in current role, very few positions I can promote to. I have tons of freedom however and life is easy, 7-3 schedule M-F. Problem is I get paid same as lazy fuks that I follow, I'm the "figure it out and make the customer happy" guy. Boss talks me up, but didn't even aware me of position that would have suited me (travelling trainer) even tho I have been training guys and making videos on my time. A fat fukking retard was gifted the job, and I am now training him on machines lol.

New offer:
$35.25/hr, $73k/year assuming no overtime, however there's tons of OT opportunity and they're even considering building in 8 hours a week with 4-12s. 3rd shift. A lot of guys hate the hours and schedule but I have done it before, I can do it again, and it's not forever. I'm being hired as a Level 2 tech, next level up gets $40/hr and $80k/year. I know almost nothing and have zero experience in the work and I wouldn't have even applied had I known what it was they need work on lol. Nevertheless I interviewed well, I aced a mechanical abilities test (88th percentile) and even tho I was clear in that I know next to nothing about 2/3 of the systems (PLC, pneumatics, hydraulics, gearing...) of industrial maintenance and was STILL given an offer. My savings grace was taking electrical classes many years ago and still remembering enough. Apparently they are building a new maintenance team and have a robust training program, perfect time, perfect place. Still afraid I'm in over my head, but this is game changing money and opportunity for me. Oh and this is a massive food company.
