There is an ex-NFL player who bought one of the ranches here locally. He put up high fences and turned it into a hunting lodge. My best buddy's little brother "guided" for him a couple years and has told us stories about how the hunts proceeded. They are farm raised elk that don't release until just before the hunt because they don't want them fighting and breaking off tines. Basically, canned hunts for half-tame elk. They put ear tags on the elk denoting the price for the animal based on size. Not really hunting any way, and I have no interest, but people pay money for it. Sounds like your operation will be 180 degrees from what that guy did.

Scattering the cabins is tougher logistically (cleaning, supplies, etc) but hunters will like having an area for themselves. I love it when I hunt and don't see another soul. The land is almost 19 square miles for those having trouble visualizing acres, that's a chunk of property.

I have a road grader and a d6 cat dozer to go along with 6 gravel trailers pulled by semi trucks so I will make roads directly to each cabin. From there they can walk or drive an atv to wherever they would like.

Gotcha good roads will make getting in a snap. I'm assuming you'll have solar at each cabin for power? Maybe propane for heat?

Outhouses or indoor plumbing? Septic systems can be tough to permit in remote locations, but I'm guessing on the reservation you won't have a problem with that.

Separate well at each cabin, or haul water? Running water sure makes a place more comfortable, but the well would be a huge power draw for a solar system. If there is enough vertical relief you might be able to put a tank on a hill and fill the tank off a generator and then supply it to the cabins at pressure. Freezing could be a problem though.

Solar for electricity, propane and a wood stove for heat and a propane powered generator for back up to all that. I will have a separate well at each cabin and indoor plumbing because why not? Septic isn’t a worry because not only are permits not a thing, nobody will even know I built them anyway, it’s that remote.

Update: turns out 35’s on an F-350 don’t mean chit when this badlands gumbo gets wet. Thank god there’s cell service here. Waiting for help, great time to take a nap and kill a couple hours. Next time I’m bringing an atv instead.

Edit to my edit, off to town to buy 500 feet of log chains, this will require my tractor to get the pickup out. Expensive lesson today.

Just saw this OP...Can you put me in for a turkey hunt? I'll stay in a fkn tent...srs. Never hunted Muleys but I wouldn't have the money for that and don't care as much.. Loved when i bow hunted turky in South Dakota.
