But but but...You need material things to be happy!

Modern day capitalism/globalism and materialism is just as bad as socialism, but in different ways. Look at our culture. Actually it's two sides of the same coin. It just took capitalism a long time to get corrupted to the point of issuing the same social death sentence.

I've noticed this about Americans. They're taught to be extremely arrogant that no matter how bad things are, they live in the best country. I used to think this way. That our way is the best. In some ways yes, it is, but at what cost?

Compare this:

Typical American Family:
-Parents think kids are money pits and the bane of their existence
-Parents push kids into unplayable debt via college and lifestyle choices
-Kids forced to move out early working a slave Job to pay rent and debt
-Kids never get ahead, slowly hate their family because parents only **** on them for their choices, and they live an empty life.
-Culturally (pushed by Hollywood) parents think kids are lazy and not hard working, kids hate parents for not parenting or helping them, and they only see each other at holidays
-Everyone is on their own financially and collectively struggle and there is never any long term family wealth

European Culture:
-Family is wealth
-Strong community and local bonds
-Kids stay with family until ready to get married or move out when financially very stable
-Family always sees each other
-Strong reverence for getting married and having children
-Collectively help with finances whether it be with weddings, pooling money (certain cultures), family business, etc.

Europe, although politically VERY fukked, culturally are a lot better in many ways.

Trust him bro, he is definitely CEO 10k / day.

He will just deflect the aggregate socioeconomic data that tries to quantify somehow the "bureaucratic barriers" to starting a business I posted with a story of how a mate of a mate of a mate of his tried business in Italy but Italy council said no Americano and he got sad!

Yeah you nailed it, I definitely felt that while I was there. The very socialist countries can be kinda phucked to be honest, but there's a lot of places that got a good blend of politics with a rich culture, Italy came off as one of them. Their family culture there is basically what you described, and they seemed much happier and more relaxed.

Honestly, one of the biggest thing I got against Americans these days is they are just so high strung. Like they are always obsessing over stupid chit and trying to showoff and chit, we've become such a decadent culture. Most Europeans are honestly more down to earth, and they are more in touch with reality as well.

Train tickets are beyond cheap and you can go from one side of the country to the other for like $10 on a train lmao. Their train system is incredible so you can just go anywhere you want by train and then after that rent a car or take a taxi. They don't use uber or anything that I know of. You can also airbnb houses there if you want a cheaper thing than a hotel but some of the beds in airbnb were ****.

That's really why I still want to move there, you can connect to people in ways you seldomly see in the states.

Everyone isn't so "me me me" out there.

Agree completely. Our culture is almost non existent and is purely about materialism, focusing on oneself and wants, and very independent to a fault. You can just look at how family is treated. American's throw their parents/grandparents in a home when they are old, and Italian' (for example) bring nonno and nonna in their home to live with them and keep the family bond strong. Pretty sad to think about.

There are pros and cons to living anywhere, but I would think Italy would be one place I wouldn't mind. That is much more my alley in terms of what I value in life. I just don't know how politically fukked they will be in the future and being part of the EU.

Lmao, every country has some form of socialist policy in it - your fire department and road constructions are socialist.

There is no country in Europe that is socialism, despite what retarded American liberals think.

Just there are different opinions in various aspects of life that vary between European countries, let alone globally...

Norway has always been a free market and capitalist, just does things different via taxation, healthcare etc. Different people have differing views on those differences.

Yeah true, that's the problem with moving really, there's so many complex issues to take into consideration.

That said, what you said is basically what it's all about, they just live a lifestyle that I would prefer for myself. I have become disgusted by modern day American society and I feel it's become a culture that really likes to alienate people, because everyone here is basically miserable and desperately trying to connect with others. We can't because we have made ourselves so divided from even our own families, we got no real support base, and live very shallow lives. I want more, something better than that.

See, it's undeniable how America feels like a chithole compared to Italy, and you guys were just in Rome and Sicily.

Everything crazy but nothing cool about political instability, spike in homelessness and unpunished criminal activity, looting and ethnic relations at an all time low.

Definitely far, far more laid back. The big cities are even pretty quiet. The US has gotten mogged. US women are 30 pounds heavier than in the early 1960s, so just being thin without a donkey face makes them 'hot.' I feel for you younger lads and my sons when they're old enough to date.
Yeah Buddyyy! Light weight! Light weight baby!!!!

We want migrants like you brah, people that wanna make chit happen, open up their own path and thrive!

For those that romanticize a mediocre life absent of the most basic amenities we take for granted in the US, by all means buy your one way ticket to third world Eurocrap and enjoy your 2 hr siestas and living in a shoebox without air conditioner.

You were there on vacation, it's always a different set of eyes whenever you're on vacation.
Try to actually live there for 6 months and have a taste of the job market/ constantly blaming the government for things being not taking care of their people ( yes It's even worse than in the U.S!).

You'll think twice.
Same thing about women, Italians are the best looking one but they're nutso too, they're women in the end.

Who did you go with? I've never traveled out of the country, so pardon my ignorance.

I got a decent raise and about 16 vacation days so I'm gonna apply for a passport booklet soon. I'd most likely be traveling solo.

Maybe, but the mindset and quality of girl is definitely different. Italy, Greece, some other eastern European countries. Food is more natural, less processed, tastes better. People are more active. Girls are in better shape because of this and straight up facially more attractive. More of a sense of community, family bond is stronger. People actually want to go out and do stuff. Cities are safer. You don't have to walk around with eyes in the back of your head. Vibe is more relaxed. Clown world is not front and center there, or really on your mind at all. Now, agree, it won't be totally the same year round and maybe there's some grass is greener aspect at play.

For the rest of 9-5cels it's all about coping with their idyllic lives while living paycheck to paycheck, never owning a car, owning a home is a pipedream, so it's renting a shoebox without a washing/drying machine or sometimes even AC unit.

It's a facade really, people that go take their selfie in front of the Colosseum, eat the pasta and drink the wine have no fuking clue.
The average UScel lives a mediocre life lacking any ambition for upwards social mobility too. Guess what? Their lives are still 100x better than ours. They literally chill out with their hot ass wives and gfs while we stress out and eat **** food and die unhealthy as ****.

Rented a car. The car was expensive as **** like $1500 for 7 days simply because it was automatic because I don't drive manual. Manual would be significantly cheaper. I would just get a moped or something and ride the trains. Also electric bikes are a thing if you don't mind exercising.

I got a decent raise and about 16 vacation days so I'm gonna apply for a passport booklet soon. I'd most likely be traveling solo.
I went with my friend from childhood. Stay in hostels if you are going solo and you'll definitely meet people to hang out with. Solo definitely isn't as fun imo but would still be fun if you're an extrovert.
