Tech hiring freeze happened earlier this year. It didn’t help that during this timeframe people were on TikTok lieing about how much money they make.

Jsut because you have openings doesn’t mean you are hiring. Meta has thousands of openings right now but it’s publically known they have hired anyone in 2022 just cut people. It’s stupidity like this poster why everyone will be so unprepared for tech crash

Nah it was always coming.

We end to fire a tech provider a year ago third is when I first noticed this. We were paying 7k a month for some worthless software

'tech' is such a cringe vague meme career. What does it even mean? You can work MS Office programs? So can a 12 year old with a weeks practice. And you think that gives you staying power. Jfl should've done a medical related degree like me

I absolutely hate recommending anyone join the US military, but think about this:

Go guard or reserve in whatever IT MOS they have. You'll have to go through basic, but after that's it's whatever IT training, then back home. If you do get called up, you won't be getting your ass blown up in some foreign dumpster fire. You're IT

What you will get is a security clearance, and that's something Prajeet will never, ever have.

We're all feeling it OP, I was only offered an 18% raise this year. It's tough out here.

Is this your first job?

My wife just got let go from one of her jobs which is for a giant tech company. There's a guy I follow on youtube that's been predicting this for like a year now. I'm crossing my fingers they don't let me go. I work for a giant company, but as a consultant, which sucks.

Yeah it's ridiculous they allow this, but most of the workforce here supports it, even though it's to their own detriment. Trump wanted to do away with this, but for god knows what reason most tech workers hated him.

How old are you OP? Guessing you're in the early days of your career.

Are you going to be prepared financially for a while? I think if I got suddenly laid off, if you include my severance package I'd probably survive like 6 months if I don't change my lifestyle much, without having to dig into my retirement or sell something.

if you got laid off within 3 months, sounds like you failed the 3 month trial period that most companies have.

Everyone in these types of companies is a narcissistic schmuck that thinks he's the next Steve Jobs, no one puts in any real work, and there's zero accountability.

When I worked there I recall they hired a bunch of new tech guys, some marketting people, and some VPs... and then they laid them off in like 4 months.... It was completely absurd....
Plus there will be no VCs to be found to give them their next round of funding. Not for a while at least.

Our IT department is full of cat ear headband wearing chicks, and star wars neckbeard nerds. And they kick ass.

All with security clearances, and all making way more money than you ever will.

But you do you being unemployed.

Stay relevant, OP. If it's not the salary you're hoping for, take the job anyways and keep looking. Also, learn new certs or upgrade your current knowledge.

Keep grinding. The first decade in a career will make or break you.
