What do you mean about mistaking the other two? they are both wolf-husky hybrids as well.

when you get a wolf tag it is good for a wolf and wolf - dog hybrids and the department of game management considers them to be the same.

So again - if you live in wolf territory and are 11 miles into the wilderness - your first thought isn't going to be dog

there are wild wolf dog hybrids that is why the wolf tags even specifically state they are also for wolf hybrids. There are going to be more in that area since someone dumped a litter of huskys out there, they'll cross breed quickly.

Describing it as a solo predator hunt indicates to me she was likely using animal in distress calls to lure in any predators within hearing range...

Generally these are high pitched screaming, dying prey sounds that carry for miles in the right conditions. No animal other than a predator is going to come investigate these sounds so it's understandable how the mistake could be made by even a seasoned, well measured hunter.

There really are no "trophies" in the predator hunting world, numbers are more sought after so the fact she was just completely comfortable with it being a pup is also not unusual.

Why would someone throw away dogs you can get $1000 a head for? That just doesn't make sense to me. Even huskies that aren't full blooded can still be sold for good money if they have the blue/grey eyes (everybody loves blue/grey eyes)

Misc is being irrational about this.

I love dogs just as much as anyone here but you guys don't bat an eyelid with wolves being shot, or cows and pigs being slaughtered. All of these animals are sentient and could be just as friendly to humans.

- I would never want an animal to be needlessly torturtured or abused but this husky wasn't.

- When you're out hunting, it's not just yourself and an animal in an empty room 20 feet apart. Distance is much further and there is tons of foliage that hinder proper vision. Would I be able to tell it's a husky? Probably, but you can confuse it for a wolf hybrid as well.


It's a kinda stupid incident but I'm not enraged by it.

Where I live that doesn't really happen. The only dogs here that wind up in shelters are dogs who had their owner die and pitbulls. Every shelter is 95% pits ded fukn srs

If a shelter posts on non pitbull on ******** its adopted within the day. I know all this because my wife and I have adopted 2 dogs and it was such a nightmare I went completely hands off and my only direction to my wife was don't come home with a pit or any dog even mildly resembling a pit and it took her months and having to drive 2 hours away to find one

that's crazy. My friend is currently fostering what they believe to be a pure bred English bulldog and another is fostering two mutts. But yeah our shelters are slow for adoptions, possibly due to the proximity to Amish puppy mills.

The result was a different animal being killed, which, if you are in favour of hunting in general, is hardly a moral abomination. Hell anyone who eats meat contributes to far worse animal suffering than what this lady accidentally did

Not sure if it has been mentioned here but it sounded like a bunch of the dogs had parvo, which is a super contagious and deadly virus that tends to strike young pups


I find it far more disgusting that rather than dealing with this like a responsible adult, someone breeding these dogs dumped a bunch of parvo-stricken puppies out in the forest where they're almost certain to suffer badly before dying. They need to find this breeder and shut them down.

why shoot an animal so you can mainly hang their head on your walls?

why is hunting a wolf not banned? They are almost going to endangered list. News also stated she was hunting for a Young wolf. This is just sooooo wrong in so many levels.

I dont see the difference of hunting and people killing animals on the meat trade. The way that animals suffers and this people have no emotion at all. They just kill and they get pleasure from doing it. Is disgusting!!!!!

wolves are not almost on the endangered list, their US population has grown almost 3x in the last 20 years. The population is healthy and stable. And in some areas, there are too many, which is why Montana issues kill tags.

But in general, you can fault people for caring about potential pets that aren't killers. I mean most are part of your family, perhaps even a friend (man's best friend) so unless it's a pit bull, this doesn't sit well with me personally.

I mean, I like dogs but I agree with you for the most part. I will say though, that if you know ANYTHING about dogs you should know that's a husky very easily. Wolves are mangy and dirty, that dog was clean and had obvious marks of a husky.

Whats obnoxious about it is shooting a husky that you somehow thought was a wolf and then immediately taking to social media because that's what everyone does. Imagine how stupid she must feel now.

1) she thought it was a wolf
2) continued thinking it was a wolf even after shooting, killing it, and skinning it.
3) waited until after she killed it, skinned it, posted on social media with a smile saying she killed a wolf, to finally say the thing attacked her first. Not only that just said it growled at her, so obviously she wasn't shooting from a distance and couldn't tell what it really was.

I mean you're really just playing dumb at this point to keep the argument going. Go find something else to do, man

I posted three pics above of wolf dog hybrids - it's extremely easy to confuse a hybrid for a dog and vice versa - despite your earlier claims that no one could ever mistake one. Add to that, that she's out in the woods not in someone's backyard.

You're in denial cause you made an emotional response. I had the exact same sentiment in yesterday's thread on this topic.
