Was the cop in full uniform? Any bros who conceal carry and when driving keep it within reach; if someone opened car door like that in a ‘nice’ car without announcing themself would reflex to reach for it in those two seconds as possible hijacking/robbery.

Im not a cop but even I can tell that this cop made SO many mistakes.

1. didnt wait for backup
2. didn't move his car and turn on his lights to alert everyone around (and driver in car)
3. opened car door without knocking first
4. didn't announce himself as an officer
5. didn't confirm the driver was who he was looking for (could have been a family member borrowing the car for example)
6. fired blindly at car without confirming if there were other passengers inside (or a baby in a car seat)

there was in fact a passenger which makes it even more f'd up.

this is aggravated attempted manslaughter. cop should be in jail right now.

There is almost no backstory. This case is so clear cut its hard for some miscers to understand.

That cop is an unhinged liar. Period...

He said a car similar to the teen's evaded him the night before. (that looks like a total lie at this point)

The cop was an unrelated call. Calls for back-up then decides to engage.

Then he starts blasting when the startled teen runs for his life from the crazed manic with a gun because he opened his door without identifying himself and demanded he step out.

The cop claims the teen "hit" him with the car but that is a lie. It looks like door may have grazed him according to Chief McManus --> “There is nothing I can say in defense of that officer’s actions that night,” Police Chief William McManus told WOAI-TV. “I think what happened, initially, there was some contact made, but that did not justify the shooting.

The kid has been charged but it looks like the DA might not pursue the charges.

“While Sunday’s shooting of an unarmed teenager by a then-San Antonio Police officer remains under investigation, the facts and evidence we have received so far led us to reject the charges against Erik Cantu for further investigation,” Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said." -->https://nypost.com/2022/10/07/san-an...en-erik-cantu/

But later in the same article -->"Cantu was hospitalized in stable condition and initially charged with evading police and aggravated assault. Gonzales, the district attorney, said no decision had been made on whether to pursue charges against Brennand, pending the outcome of a police investigation into the shooting."

Looks like the DA has rejected the charges all together according to this article.

"SAN ANTONIO —The Bexar County District Attorney rejected charges against Erik Cantu, who is still in the hospital. Nearly a week since the incident at a McDonalds on Blanco Road which cost a rookie San Antonio police officer his job and nearly cost seventeen-year-old his life". --->https://www.kens5.com/article/news/c...9-7753b59a6a8f

Once this kid recovers he should be handed a pistol and given the opportunity for a few shots at this former pig.

Not just your post but others who don't see it how I do.

How I see it is this. I can't relate or empathise with certain kinds of people. The kinds of people who like to pose in front of what they think of as flashy cars holding up cash. It's not even that much car nor is it a lot of money but to them it is, and to those they are trying to "show" it is, and they think it's some kind of status and something in witch to be proud.

It's about certain people who have a lifestyle, where it's the way they carry themselves, their demenior, their mentality that puts themselves into positions like this that they ask for. I don't see this situation likely happening to a normal person. Despite having nice cars, he's rolling around in someone else's car. I know about how they do that. Disturbance at MD's where police are on the scene and yet he's completely aloof sitting in the car stuffing his face with a burger (which the fact his cheeks were full of food as though stuffing his face could be out of nervousness. Cop comes and opens your door and of course in uniform it should have been a dead give away and with little reaction time you throw it in reverse and hit the cop with the door.

The police officer should only shoot in order to protect himself or someone else and that wasn't there. Yes I think he over-reacted but I just don't emphasize with the kid.

What is this schizophrenic nonsense? There's nothing you can say that would justify the cops actions in this situation.

It's terrific, right? So you know, I am in heaven."

Yes. Anyone who actually wants that job has srs insecurity issues to begin with. I know there are a small % of them that are good people who are in it to help the community they serve, most don’t see it that way. They want to feel powerful and have authority over others. It’s a nasty human trait that many have. The same as the way the liberals were drunk with being able to yell and tell people to wear mask.

There aren’t enough people who could be a good cop that would actually do the job because those people don’t have the need to feel like they have authority over others. This is what we end up with here, a lot of ex military guys who weren’t smart enough for anything else and have fantasized since high school that they were badasses. Again it’s not all of them but it’s most and it shows. What kind of person would do that job for peanuts pay? The kind of person who gets off on something else the job offers, being able to boss people around. I can’t stand most of them, their egos, attitudes and demeanor makes me laugh because without that badge and their departments support they would get rag dolled by a lot of the population just like anyone else. But since they have all those things in their favor they have this false sense of being macho. It’s a psychological issue that’s very common for the majority of cops in America. Most of them are just so jealous of Chad from school it drive them to this starting at a young age.

TLDR: 99% of them are insecure low IQcels. That’s the type of person drawn to being a cop. I know some of them personally that have always fit that description long before they became cops.

The kid was just eating in his car??

Would I have drove off in a panic? Absolutely not. But people (especially young teens) don’t react to things normally at times. That cop didn’t just “over react”, he straight up murdered someone because his ego was bruised that someone didn’t do what he wanted him to, because again, that’s what type of people are drawn to being cops and he feels entitled to punish anyone who doesn’t respect his authority. We have a srs problem with these morons in America with badges. Some violent criminals get what they deserve but a lot of other people get “over reacted” on constantly because of these insecure *******s.

Require a 4 year degree, and get rid of qualified immunity. That would solve many problems.

A degree gives these idiots a sense of there being something to lose (4 years of time, money, and effort)

Qualified immunity allows police to make legal mistakes without being held accountable for them unless particularly egregious. Now cops are directly responsible for their own actions.

Third, any lawsuit brought up against the cop is paid for by them directly by garnishing their wages.

Solves 90% of policing issues.

"mistook the teens' car for a vehicle that evaded him the previous night."

If this is the best lie you can come up with to kill unarmed citizens then you don't need to be a police officer.

You think every lawsuit is legit?

And standards aren't being increased, they're being reduced, because nobody wants to be a cop nowadays.

Why do people call African's black. When most of them are dark brown.

Why do people call Asians yellow. I've never seen a yellow asian, except when he was going through liver failure.

Problem is now days, you don't know if it's a cop or criminal impersonating.

Especially if the cop approaches you like a jacker.

You think every police shooting is legit?

If the settlement is approved, its paid for in full by the city, then the cop reimburses the city through garnished wages. If it gets to the point of approval by whoever handles that then I find it to be legit.

Decreasing the standards only allows bigger idiots to join the force, we need less of that.\

I hope you understand the negative reaction to police is because of police actions, don't blame the general population.

YOU reap what you sow.
