(Galadriel seems to think he's dead.)The first season isn't even over yet... it's a little early to compare the show to 3 movies released over 2 years.
Viewership decreased because 1) viewership for any show will virtually never stay as high as it was at the premier, and 2) viewership has only been published for the first ~3 episodes...
And it's still the 2nd most watched show in the world after Cobra Kai (which is on Netflix... the service way more people use).
More importantly, the slow started just like Fellowship of the Ring... slow as ****. It's only getting interesting in the 2nd half of the season. The creators admitted that, and it's my personal opinion based on 1 rewatch. I skipped like the first 4 completely on the 2nd watch.
Polarizing articles will just get more attention on the show which helps viewership.
And if the finale isn't ****, we can expect the show to get a ton of word of mouth in the next few days... so the only show in the world it will continue to lose to in viewership is Cobra Kai. Which is also good as **** - and appeals to a much wider audience than a fantasy series ever will.
In conclusion, wait and see. The finale is gonna be hype AF.

This show is legit garbage.. much like She Hulk
But one thing i have noticed is that NO ONE is really talking about this show (unlike Shehulk)
By god what a disaster by Amazon.. and we will pay the price when they bump up the Amazon prime subscription to cover the costs of this ****fest
I am happy that you have two shows with forced/shoehorned in diversity on at the same time.. one is pretty well liked/viewed (House of dragon).. meanwhile ROP is dying
The usual shills cannot blame it on the usual stuff like "RACISM".. especially as most peoples gripes with ROP is Galadriel being an unlikeable mary sue **** and just boring story in general

This show is about the convergence of the end of the second age and the beginning of the third. The history of the Istari is only that they came about sometime around the time "the necromancer" who is also obviously Adar, and why there is a transitional period of him going from Adar, the first orc to "the necromancer" to eventually Sauron.
Its all being tied together very obvious to anyone who has read the books and has half a brain.

But everything else does not fit perfectly lorewise lol
Its all over the place
Galadriel personality for one
Her husband being dead (i have seen some shill sites try and pretend this can make sense)
And her having no daughter.. who will marry elrond and be the mother to Arwen (who Aragon bangs/marries in the last movie)
They have no real material to work with.. so are breaking lore to try and make this **** story (which nobody likes)
Also i agree that's probably gandalf.. but from what i understand they don't have the rights to Gandalf (his name)
