Not that I'm making a statement on the justification here, but she wasn't standing 15' away. The officer appears to be standing at the end of the open exterior door and she appears to be standing at the other end of the interior door. Doors are typically 36" or less in width, so she's maybe 6' and change away or almost a full foot less distance than the height of the average miscer

And the reality of the situation is that most likely this cop is going to have mental issues and struggle with this for the rest of his life.
