Jews, God's chosen people, wanted to kill him so he was most likely hiding out up until it was closer for him to be sacrificed to be our savior.
It's speculated (and debated) that the wise men did not come to him until he was 2 or 3 yrs old. Jesus is called a young child (King James ver) in the wise men account (Matthew 2:8,9,11,13,14,20,21) and not a baby. Also, the wise men found Jesus in a house (Matthew 2:11), not a stable or an inn (just a room in a house). When the wise men did not return Herod ordered all male babies to be killed in an attempt to kill Jesus.
At 30 he was baptized by John the Baptist. It's thought that he was baptized initially at age 12, then a second baptism with John the Baptist as he was trying to win over the people to believe in God.
So, probably hiding out mostly and emerged closer to the crucifixion to gather disciples, make them "fishers of men" and become crucified to save our souls.

Jesus is a fictional figure, just like most of the characters in the bible. The whole story is allegory. People who believe in the story haven't done enough research and continue to operate off of faith with the blind assumption that the events in the bible actually took place. If the truth about all religions came out the entire world would flip upside down. Most people believe in illusions but at the end of the day if it helps you be a good person it is a good thing vs not believing in anything and being an a-hole.

I've also heard that the knowledge first originated out of india, many many thousands of year ago, and made it's way to the middle east, Levant, and Kemet, where it ultimately resulted in those secret hermetic schools.

Most modern scholars accept that Jesus existed, there is a few Roman sources who mention him being sentenced by Pontius Pilate
