90% of twatter employees just lougne around and do nothing. It was like a big ass party for a company that just loses money.

most are fluff jobs. So he can still run the site with jsut the engineers. Devs? What do they develop? Site hasn't changed in 10 years lol

elon has been acting like a petulant manbaby for a long time now

no surprise he's running Twitter into the ground. and for someone who LARPs about free speech, firing people for correcting your nonexistent programming knowledge is pretty laughable. thankfully at his other companies there are real brains doing all the legwork

I suspect that both of these statements are very real. Share his vision and get on board or else. I wonder how much is autism related [focused on results] and how much is just his personality.

Id love to see the business plan. How much was he wanting to expand it and how?

Per his own words he wants Twitter to act as the anti-thesis to this media monopoly and has the goal of the platform acting as the place for citizen journalism backed up with verifiable factual information. If a large amount of the population adopts Twitter as the place to find real news vs. news that serves the powerful that should definitely drive usage. And, as posted ITT, usage is way up already.

He also intends to add more functions to Twitter to make it the "everything app" equivalent to wechat in China IIRC which includes a payment system, something that he has some familiarity with.

Think about the games that are being played with peoples' money by the powerful. Imagine an alternative place to store your money and to conduct transactions. One that isn't under the direct control of state power or the international bankers.

Will he be able to make that vision real? IDK.

But if you can see it then you can see it. And if you can't, oh well.

I think it's a little early to call it a massive failure and people are jumping to conclusions. Takes a long time to rebuild something properly. Need to get rid of all of the employees who could potentially have access to sensitive information and want to work against you or take it elsewhere, rehire, and start rebuilding.

Do the first few years of a "new business" usually look good? No.

I just made a twitter 2 weeks ago and realistically speaking he doesn't know wtf he's doing. He just bought it to claim he's "for the people" while being totalitarian in the weirdest way possible. I want to believe but he doesn't know what he's doing outside of tweeting edgy sh*t lmao

I'd be interested to hear more about this hypothesis. Are you talking about writing off his operating losses to avoid paying taxes?

If twitter was still publicly traded, the price would have tanked and I'd be buying shares, srs. Tesla had some really dark days, too. I'm not an Elon lover by any stretch, but historically, betting on Elon to succeed has been a solid path to making money.

Tesla forums right now are full of early investors who are loathing this Twitter stuff because they think it's destroying the value of their stocks

Yeah, I wouldn't be amused if I was still in TSLA. Especially not with the 50 billion compensation package which was supposedly for the purpose of keeping him engaged.

This guy is one of those weird Elon cultists. Insults everyone that says anything negative about that ho Musk.

Elon isn’t some Tony Stark persona. He’s not a god tier engineer, software developer, or anything else. He’s a person who had the balls to use his family wealth to turn it into more wealth, even if he over promises and under delivers.

He’ll find a way to make money from the dumpster fire that is Twitter. He goofed hard with the way he ruined account verification, and he recently sent out an email that everyone has to either accept the terms or be given 3 months of severance. He’s trying to work the employees like his family did their miners back in South Africa.

It is possible that Tesla stock is getting hit partly because what Elon is trying at Twitter doesn't exactly comport with the ESG investment agenda.

However I thought that I had read there were real world issues going on with the production and sale of Tesla vehicles unrelated to politics/feels.

Musk did just announce that he is going to hire someone else to run Twitter day to day implying that he will be putting more of his attention back on sorting his other companies.

You really don't think it's fair to call some of the Elon defenders cultists? Maybe not in the traditional sense of the word, but some of them seem very emotionally invested with his success and the description seems to fit as per common usage of the word.

Completely agree on the second part I've quoted though. Yeah, he started with money, but his drive is next level and it's very impressive what he's been able to accomplish. Hope he succeeds with Twitter.

Can't believe how DUMB the analysis is everywhere.

He bought it for power? Everyone's going to abandon it?

Elon's strategy with Twitter is obvious imo, based on 1) his history in payments processing (x.com and paypal) and digital currency memecoins, 2) what he said from his own mouth.

It's an established brand and platform that every celebrity uses, and he's going to glom onto this to make it a western Wechat.

He'll integrate payments so e.g., you can tip posts, but more importantly, can make payments generally (e.g., Revolut).
People will abandon all other payment platforms because of the social/addictive aspect of Twitter, and will abandon all other socials because you can get paid on Twitter.
He's going to revive Vine and replace TikTok which will soon be banned in the US, and again, integrate payments.
Eventually he'll integrate ride sharing via Tesla into the "app of everything".

Nobody will stop using Twitter.

If Twitter fails, then Elon will get a massive tax break and libs will complain he isn't paying his fair share.

Yeah generally I think trying to tie daily stock price movements to anything specifically is a fools errand, but many of these peoplethinkTwitter is a cause

@ hating Elon for "no reason", there are plenty of reasons people may dislike Elon depending on their personal views and it's likely safe to say most of those reasons originate from his inclination towards tweeting stupid things and then often deleting them in regret.

I’m really impartial to the whole thing, but stepping into a company and making such drastic changes isn’t as easy as it sounds boyos. And it’s not even, what, a month in?

Valuable advice, stepping into a company, making such drastic changes

You're giving this deal way too much credit -- these are texts between Elon and his ex wife Talulah Riley (TJ in the texts) made public during the Twitter acquisition court case

From what I've gathered Elon was cucked into buying twitter and this was essentially a power move by the SEC showing him that he can't say or do things without consequence which is something Elon does not know of being of inheritance of South African apartheid money. Elon falsified his academic credentials and continues to put up a front that he knows the inner workings of what his employees are doing when really he doesn't because he pays them to work on his fantasy projects and this requires zero intelligence but requires money, which he has plenty of.

His desperation was put on full display with his first attempt at recouping his losses with the paid verification system that was easily abused. If Elon was level-headed and knew what he wanted to do with twitter, he would not have rolled this out as quickly as he did. But, he was cucked into buying twitter and is sweating buckets thinking that hundred of millions of users will pay $8 and this would recoup his 44 billion loss.

A lot of employees took Elon's generous 3-month severance pay instead of working like slaves. He did not have to do this but he has fck you money and those employees should be grateful tbh.

Sure, there are a lot of microtransactions that can be implemented with twitter. I guarantee you that if Elon read your post he would immediately roll out every one of those changes you suggested because that is how desperate he is. 44 billion is a large fkn number. Elon isn't thinking clearly because he was cucked against his will to buy twitter when he was just memeing.

I can see twitter evolving in the ways you mentioned. But in the interim, Elon is being a doofus and is thinking of ways to quickly recoup his losses and not thinking long-term.

- record number of new users signing up

- gets the employees to quit so he doesn't have to fire them and cough up severance packages. Can now outsource their jobs to India.

- watches all the liberal celebrities leave in protest, taking their bot/paid followers with them. The bot/alt/faketivity problem is solved for him.
