The fact remains though right that humans are accelerating and disturbing a dynamical process which we don't yet fully understand and are already seeing dire consequences of. Ignoring climate change even, it doesn't take a genius to see that it is not good to pollute and destroy the environment as much as we humans are doing.Have you looked for or into opposing viewpoints though? I've seen the many citations that climate is presently changing "10X faster than average". And we humans think we are the main characters of the story. But what if we aren't though? What if there really is a cycle of roughly 12,000 years?

A single hypothesis came to dominate the field [uniformitarianis over catastrophism]and thereafter evidence that didn't support that hypothesis was discarded or downplayed as a fluke.
It is a very long article.

Eating bugs is gross, but it would genuinely help unfortunately. The amount of feed and water that goes into and the methane that comes out of a cow producing your steak has a much higher environmental cost than an insect based protein source.
Humanity is facing its greatest challenge yet, but being the monkeys that we are, we only care to argue and think about our own short term interests over the collective long term ones.

Humans also need to do a better job at analysis and critical thinking.
The mainstream climate change agenda has literally nothing to do with saving the environment or saving humanity.
That narrative is simply a scary story to spook the children and a fig leaf of righteousness to cover a naked totalitarian power grab.
First please educate yourself more on animal foods. I am serious- do yourself a favor here.
Then consider the government actions to shut down farming in the Netherlands- the second biggest food exporter in the world and some of the most efficient farms besides.
I consider the below a must watch. Probably would have already made a thread if the misc hadn't been down:
Good interview which start on the farm seizures but also touches on other insane measures that are taking place, one being that France was fined 500 million euros for failing to build "green energy" infrastructure while being one of the countries with the lowest emissions because of their nuclear energy plants:
And here is an article about the UN Climate Reparations slush fund:
A New Climate Change Loss and Damage Fund Established at U.N. Climate Change Conference
In the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change, Article 8 recognizes "the importance of averting, minimizing and addressing loss and damage associated with the adverse effects of climate change including extreme weather events and slow onset events." In the climate change context, the term "loss and damage" describes the manifestation of climate change impacts that are not or cannot be avoided by adaptation (e.g., building infrastructure) and mitigation efforts (e.g., reducing greenhouse emissions). Extreme weather events include heat waves and flooding, while slow onset events encompass sea level rise and ocean acidification.
Despite the fact that a side agreement to the Paris Agreement states that Article 8 "does not involve or provide a basis for any liability or compensation," rich countries have long worried that creating a new U.N. bureaucracy dedicated to loss and damage financing would do exactly that.
Nevertheless, the rich countries relented this weekend, and COP27 decided to "establish new funding arrangements for assisting developing countries, especially those that are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change." The new loss and damage funding arrangements will focus on "mobilizing new and additional resources."

The real kicker?
China, the world biggest greenhouse gas emitter is considered one of the developing countries.
Timmermans was pointing out that under the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, only specific (Annex I) developed countries had responsibilities to address the problem of climate change by cutting their greenhouse gas emissions. Oil-rich countries like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait were excluded along with China. Keep in mind that China's gross domestic product in real dollars was just over $1.2 trillion in 1992 and is now nearly $16 trillion. Its annual greenhouse gas emissions were 3.5 gigatons in 1992 and are now 12.7 gigatons. In comparison, U.S. greenhouse gas emissions were 4.8 gigatons in 1992 and are now around 4.8 gigatons.
China, nevertheless, insists on maintaining the convenient fiction that it is still a developing country. "We strongly support the concerns from developing countries, especially the most vulnerable countries, for addressing loss and damage because China is also a developing country and we also suffered a lot from extreme weather events," asserted China's chief climate change negotiator Xie Zhenhua at the conference. "It is not the obligation of China to provide financial support under the UNFCCC." However, the European Union and the United States retort that if they are going to be on the hook for loss and damage compensation to poor countries, so should China.
So I hope that after reading this at least a few more people will GET IT.China, nevertheless, insists on maintaining the convenient fiction that it is still a developing country. It's a lie.

Figuring out what is the best course of action to take is not an easy question, but does that mean we shouldn't want to try and instead keep living as we always have?

Regarding EVs, I agree, they are environmentally destructive. As such, I would rather see more options for public transportation than an increased focus on EVs over normal cars.
Regarding eating bugs, as much as I would dislike eating bugs, you cannot deny they are a more environmentally friendly source of food than meat. But you don't have to eat bugs and I probably won't either. I myself stopped eating meat 7 days a week and now more like 4 times a week. If all of us who had that option did similar, or even 6 days a week, that would be a good first step. It's no big deal, on my non meat days I just eat more veg like roasted asparagus and brussel sprouts and ****, delicious.
Again, these are not the only options to "save the planet".

^^^
Humans contribute one third of 1% of CO2 in the atmosphere.
^^^
CO2 makes up only 0.4% of total gases in the atmosphere.
Think about that a little.
0.4% of total atmosphere is CO2. Humans contribute 0.33% to that 0.4%.
^^^
There isn't enough metal on the planet to run the world on batteries and extracting all of the metal that exists is a nasty polluting and destructive process.
If that wasn't enough there isn't good evidence that warming is even happening. It was forecast, but actual temperature data has failed to support the hypothesis.
At present we actually have an anomalously cold snowy winter in the northern hemisphere.

Does this look environmentally friendly to you?

no doubt the earth is warming/climate is changing
is it caused by what I do on a daily basis? fuk no.
Not going to stop driving my gas powered car, eating meat, or traveling via aircraft just cuz libs want me to. 90% of plastic doesn't even get recycled. but let's blame it on the individual consumer. "every little bit helps"....bullchit.
California all electric cars by 2035? right, end well will it not. I'll leave this state by then. Seems like some kind of money grab by the politicians.
