I wasn't trying to be antagonistic when I said " some guy " btw. Anyway check out carlo scarpa's work you can integrate lots of water elements like his in the access to the house.
The are some very nice arch books about his works, get yourself a compilation of his works for inspiration.

Look at what he did at Byron's tomb and his projects in Venice.

looks like a large version of the brady bunch home. Very 1970s. go on youtube and look at Stradmans house. That is possibly the coolest house for the money for a car guy. With that said... mirin talent.

Client wants what the client wants. With every project I do, there are things I would do differently if the home was for me. But at the end of the day, there is generally only one (or two) critics that matter to me. The client. I dont consider myself an artist. But there is a creative and artistic element to all design. Art is polarizing and criticism is subjective. If everyone loves it, you are probably playing way too safe. A good design should make some fall in love and others should hate it. It is that emotional response to something that comes along with any composition. So I dont take critical feedback poorly. It comes with the putting your self out there and creating things.



I design all kinds of homes, not just modern ones. This was a recent (smaller) traditional french country home as an example. I did not spend a lot of time on the rendering making it pretty. Just tying to communicate the design to the client.
