But if he were tried for his actual crimes, it would open a can of worms for presidential scrutiny.

It is a joke, but Trump had 4 years to drain the swamp and thought it was mor important to golf and Tweet lol

At the same time, z4, they've done this non-stop for 6 years and nothing has stuck yet. I'll wait and see, I know nothing about this, but it stinks of another witch hunt.

I'm also over Trump, someone in this thread pointed out Bolton, that's just the tip of that iceberg, but if nothing comes from this -- that is only going to help Trump. Best hope they stretch this process out and it's not settled for a long while here.

Pretty sure the only way Blumpf isn't screwed here is if the judge drops the charges.

Manhattan is almost at Washington D.C. levels in terms of being deep blue. That jury must be licking their chops at the prospect of locking him up.

Exactly. The jury in ny doesn't care what they bring to the case. They just want to lock him up- they've been spoon fed how bad he is for nearly a decade.

I'll reserve judgement until I know the charges. 34 charges sounds like more than stormy to me.

Biden could pardon him, or are these state charges?

He probably falsified what the money was used for 34 different times or on 34 different records, but all being the same root thing. If that is what it turns out to be, this entire thing is ridiculous. Especially escalating the charges to felonies when even Yahoo News says its normally a misdeanor.

But we'll find out.

Also, groce.

Paul manafort was indicted on 18 counts and manafort did some real illegal stuff. If this really is only about stormy daniels, it's dumb but yes we will find out soon.

Yes, they seem more invested in this law, which they will most likely be using to enhance all his charges to felony, despite the fact that they don't have jurisdiction over federal elections.

They will use a misdemeanor law, which they have no jurisdiction over, to enhance another misdemeanor to felony status. Lmao.

So much cope ITT already.

What's even funnier is that he goes and gets charged with 30 counts and then gets to head to his private jet and fly home for a public speaking gig.

No one should be above the law, and IMO there should be more focus on people in power as long as the process is followed and the punishment fits the crime.

If it's stormy daniels, it's a stupid law.

The punishment should be to pay back the 130k and it all goes away. I think he already paid it back. Stupid laws like this shouldn't get people prosecuted. If they got him on real stuff then I'm all for it.

Fraud is such an open interpretation. I commit fraud almost every day in business depending on how you interpret my statements.

I would say politicians lying for donations is fraud, but for some reason it's not. Trump was trying to hide a 130k payment. He raised hundreds of millions of dollars. If there's fraud, it's him using his hotels for campaign events etc. The stormy payment is too small.

so if someone steals a snickers bar, are you going to put fraud charges on that person for frauding the sales tax?

like metroins said, your perspective of it can be looked at in so many crazy ways.
