archive.org got caught breaking copyright laws, that's it. They will just have to not break them again.
The judges sided with the publishers so far. The case is still ongoing, so only time will tell. Websites have been sued and shut down for good for far less. Hopefully, archive can reach a settlement with the publishers that doesn't render the site defunct.

Tumblr went to chit when Yahoo bought it, in hopes of "cleaning it up."

It's a nice snapshot of how sites looked in the past.

A pretty fringe site that has been online for over two decades shut down recently, and archive.org is the only way I am still able to access the articles.

ITT: everyone forgets that archive.org is compromised as is. They deleted a board members daughters tweets to avoid criticism, and delisted kiwifarms for showing groomers.

The idea of copyright is absolute nonsense. You can't own information. They are just using the group with the strongest military to force other people to do what they want, which is fair enough, but don't try to hang a pathetic cuck fig leaf on the front.
