Find out specifically what causes the anxiety
Inspect the way youthinkabout these things
Don't avoid the things that cause you anxiety - face your fears
Lift as a healthy/adaptive coping mechanism
Engage in some self-care/relaxation activities daily
Deep breathing/meditation
Stay away from substances and other maladaptive coping strategies

It's like in an RPG. If you don't take any hits, your armor rating will never increase. Do not avoid. Anxiety is an emotion we all feel and it's perfectly normal. Try to figure out if the way you think about situations you find yourself in increase this anxiety.

Best of luck, OP

People don't need therapy, they need to go outside and exercise.

Mental health isn't some difficult science. Look around, the problems in our current society are blatantly obvious.

How do you meditate exactly? Like if it works for you, it should work for me.

My method involves either laying in bed or sitting and focusing on breathing for like 10 minutes? Should I change my technique? Should I go longer? All I mostly do is just focus on breathing and nothing else, but I haven't done that in a while, so I could pick that up again.

For that action stuff, even while I work remotely, I clean the dishes, cook dinner everyday, scoop the cat poop, and go on my hands and knees to vacuum the carpets since those are a pain in the ass, but these are daily things, so it doesn't feel any special. Like after I passed the CPA exam, I felt completely lost and had no idea what to do with my free time because I legit spent a full year+ just studying on my free time all day. No TV, no videogames, limited time hanging out with wife, and afterwards I feel depressed I guess, but it went away after a bit.

Thanks misc, all you ****** give good advice.
For meditation, I aim for as little as 5 min each day where I follow a guided meditation through an app like “Calm” or “Headspace”. Basically they have me sit upright in a chair, hands resting to the side or on your lap, eyes closed, and breathe in through your nose, then out through your mouth. At the end of the 5 min, a chime or other sound will notify you the time is up, and you ease your way back into your environment. The goal is to focus on your breath, and nothing else. If your mind strays, no big deal, just try and find your way back to the breath. You’ll get better the more you do it

Bad news first: try any supps you never know it might work. But likely you're just going to have to ride it out.

Good news: it will pass. Eventually. It's going to suck. Some days will be really bad. And you just want it to stop and you'll be frustrated. Just get through that day and the next.

You need something to distract your mind. For me it's gaming. I find a game I go balls to wall, losing sleep over and loving every minute of it. It keeps my mind off it and prevents me from intrusive thoughts.

As someone mentioned, breathing exercises. I like to use Prana Breath app on Android.

Favorite pattern:
- inhale 3 seconds through nose
- exhale 6 through mouth until lungs are mostly empty (not super empty)
- hold mostly empty lungs for 6 seconds (or 9 if you are more advanced in breathing exercises)
- repeat for 5 to 10 minutes

If it's minor anxiety which this is what it sounds like just distract yourself and it will pass.

Now if it gets to brutal 10/10 anxiety and panic attacks, hyperventilating and passing out. Seek therapy and medications such as *****..******, klonopin. Yes they are addicting but that is blown out of proportation take as needed and you will be fine.

Meditation is dangerous because it can lead you to ignoring growing problems.

Most likely, your structure of relationships is causing you stress.

I'd try meditating more like prayer so it is structured to reorient your relationships. If you cannot make serious changes, perhaps some supplement (probably fasting is better) or exercise can help for the moment.
