Reddit single handily killed the message boards though, its a thing of Convenience one passcode and screen name for multiple subreddits of different topics so you dont have to keep joining different forums online for different niches.

Forums tried to prevent from being obsolete by allowing you to log in or sign up with your ******** or twitter but it didnt help
