It has nothing to do with the laws. The jury found them NAT GUILTY (i.e they dindu nuffin). Remember when Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murder despite there being zero evidence of murder?

No, it's because justice was prevented from being served due to the races involved.

If it was self defense, how could they have been convicted of assault? The fact that they were convicted of assault shows that it wasn't self defense, and if it wasn't self defense, it was manslaughter because they beat someone until he died and then prevented him from receiving medical attention. It should be murder really.
