The crazy thing is that it wasn't even a Minivan, but a FULL SIZED VAN that has more interior room than New York Apartments.
Nowadays there are Minivans going to 100k and up because of a shortage of certain Minivans such as the Sienna.

Most new vehicles in the US aren't Corollas or Civics, they're Ford F Series, Ram Full Sized Pickups, GM Full Sized Pickups, Toyota Rav4s, Honda CRVs, etc.
Good luck finding ANY of them under 30k new. Even fully loaded Corollas and Civics are OVER 30K new nowadays. I'm not event talking about GR Corollas or Civic Type Rs, just normal ones.

Step 1: Pay current one off before the interest can build up too much

Step 2: Save/invest excess money beyond your CoL, settling with your car for years

Step 3: Trade in your car, then pay the difference for something that is either new, or certified pre-owned ($2k+ discount)

Helps if you don't mind your current house, or you accept being a rentcel longer term.

This is why people need to learn how to rebuild engines. You can buy a new engine block and get 200k out of it for $3k,which equates to 66k miles per $1k. LOL. FKN LOL @ NON CAR MECHANICELS.
Lol what

What car can you get a new engine block for $3k

Even if you bought the block then you need crank, rods and pistons

Then you need rings, big and little end bearings, and the full gasket set

If you assume an inline motor you need one cylinder head which at a minimum will need a facing plus valve regrind

Plus all the freeze plugs

Even if you found a low mileage second hand motor with bores still in round and tried to do a refresh with just honing the bores and re-ringing it, with new bearings and gaskets and reconditioning the head, you are looking at well over $3k

And this is of course valuing your own labour at zero

Doing an engine build is only worth it if
a)it’s a performance motor and you don’t have a shop that you trust to do it properly

b) the opportunity cost of your time is very low

3k for a small block isn't cheap(all it is is a small ass engine block). And that's for a 4 cylinder in a Toyota 2AR-FE. But that's cheap if you consider a new car is about 25k.

Almost everything metal is reusable if the engine never overheated.

Even if you rehaul everything, you're looking at 10k at the most if you rebuild the tranny and replace some emissions parts.

Performance engines are never worth touching for a regular daily driver. They make more sense for trucks.

4 cylinder builds is very much worth it. I would not go with anything smaller than a 4 cyln because you don't save that much MPG but sacraficing alot of power. 6 cylinders are too expensive and they use more gas. Power just isn't important with these DD.

This is the new normal, car prices will drop a bit but there's a new floor now.

I went to look at a used Jetta the other day... 40k miles, the kind of car you could get pre-"covid" for around $10-$12k.... yeah, that's a $21k car now. pisses me off so much

Yeah, it was the Stinger. Up until then I had never had a new car, and wanted something fun for a while.

They generally find a bank or credit union that isn’t pro Sandusky covid-19 war on poor people

Which is hard to come by id know because cuck mafia banks and creditors tried to and succeeded in punishing me for investigating big tech

And then you know? You go thru the process of applying and

I don’t know I haven’t got that far because you know of

1) the dotcom bubble
2) the housing market collapse
3) big bank bail outs
4) now covid-19

All of these are wars against poor people that have gone down over the last 20 years

And you know lots of those banks are really chummy with Sandusky he’s been in politics for longer

And I’m paraphrasing and making assumptions here

But I imagine the conversation went something like this

“Hey bank, it’s Sandusky. You remember that one time I bailed you out with the taxpayer slush fund? Well here now I need a favor. You see my campaign contribution from google/microsoft dictates that I make taxpayers pay to enrich these foreign billionaires that have claimed covid was real. So in order to apply pressure, I need you to engage in racketeering and defrauding taxpayers with me. So I can cover up covid crimes.”

“Come on man, remember that time I bailed you out and made taxpayers pay for your mismanaging money?”

Ol Sandusky is here to collect

In the US you can buy a professionally rebuilt long block LS for about $4k. You can buy a used working long block for less $1000-$1500 depending on the variant. Honda i4 engines are $200-$600.

There's at least an years long waiting list so car dealers are able to do a market adjustment to 100k or more.
That's a top of the line fully loaded Platinum trim too so it's actually worth about $65k without the price gouging.

isn't it funny, you work a normal job just like everyone else and yet nobody can afford to buy with their own money a normal regular car thats new. You need second hand or debt.

"With yearly repossession rates at 65% compared to yearly new car sales. This means that for every 2.4 cars sold, 1 existing vehicle on the road will be repossessed each year."

So for every 5 people who talk up how great their cars is, 2 of them will get repossessed.

New cars are typically sold at cost, seriously, and repairs are where car companies actually make their $$$ by selling high-margin parts and servicing to the existing fleet.

Living below your means is kinda key though, I was making over $100k and driving a 2008 Chrysler Sebring that my parents gave me up until just the other year. At least three alarm bells sounded every time you started it.
