Back when my gf lived in East rock (new haven, CT) I would frequent modern. Hands down some of the best pizza on the east coast.
Sorry to say but that pizza looks poverty AF and probably isn't even on any list for nyc top 10.
In NYC, pizzarte... They make a good pie with fresh ingredients, probably the only fork and knife pizza I've had that I l'd rave about.

"Lists" such as the one you mention are full of cope. Di Fara is on quite a few "lists" - even One Bite - but this place mogs Di Fara, and is up there with Lucali as well. Without the 2 hour wait.
