$1 million plus brah checking in.

Have averaged $1million plus the last 3 years. I’m an orthopedic surgeon. Delayed gratification. 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of medical school, 5 years of residency, 1 year of fellowship. $400k plus loan which was investment in myself but wore on me. Paid off in 1.5 years once started practicing. Didn’t start making real money until my mid 30s.

It’s one way to make a consistent high income with amazing job security but it’s not for everyone.

Not sure about $1m+ per year being what I’d consider rich

We had Shortys408 in here before posting single deposits that were $1m lol, not sure where he is these days, not sure if even that is “rich”

There was 1fast1 back in the day who sold his original company for $50m or something

Yeah all depends on the definition I guess

A high net worth individual is someone with at least $1M in liquid assets by definition and an ultra high net worth is $30M

Definitely either earning or having a business that earns $1M+ will get you closer to that ultra high net worth than someone earning 150k

You won’t be making $1M+ a year working for someone else in IT
Let me clarify. I meant I'll be making $1m+ in 5 years.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

I don't even pay myself 1M a year. I would be surprised to see if anybody on misc does that. I can only deduct and depreciate maybe 600k off personal income on schedule C with it making sense. The rest is exchanged into other companies for stock or ownership. A lot of the money goes into other companies I own, that then take a loss on developmnt, assets are held in those companies for later withdrawal or sale.

Personal income, net worth and business income are different. The advice given earlier about generating 2M in gross, then set yourself up for potential 10-20x multiplier growth and have PE purchase 49-51% of the company with a planned exit strategy is the correct advice. Private equity doesn't want you unless 2M in gross sales and 8+ potential multiplier unless they are a conservative fund looking for a merger to existing company they own.

Or luck.
