Unless it's you shooting someone's dog you're not going to be anywhere near where the shots are detected. So you'll drive over there 20 minutes later and either find nothing or the same victim you'd find if someone called 911.
It does provide useful evidence every once in a while. Shotspotter is accurate to within +/- ~100 feet, and I'd guess most shootings are at less distance than that, so it's not "exact" and it's not like you have snipers that you need to find a mile away in real time or anything.

And it's pinpoint accurate, it'll say **** like, "20 shots in the rear of this address"
But you are someone who believes I shouldn't look at my body cam, because it's unfair.....

ShotSpotter guarantees detection of 80% of gunfire within the coverage area of 82 feet (25 meters) of the incident. ShotSpotter
requires three (3) to four (4) sensors to “hear” an incident before an alert is generated. The red “dot” indicator
displayed on the map is also guaranteed to be accurate within 82 feet (25 meters) radius.

An 82' radius area is 21,000 square feet. And only 80% will fall within that area. You really wanna call that "pinpoint" to make a retarded argument on the internet then have at it, but it just further proves that nothing you say should be considered dependable or logical or really anything even worth reading.

Jfl libs are a ok with taking away a helpful technology while also remaining silent about the proposal to keep the contract until the DNC was finished. I guess that supposed low accuracy, wasteful technology is good enough for when their heroes come to town.

If you guys actually read the article it says the program is being ended because an internal investigation was conducted and concluded that the vast majority of reports lead to absolutely nothing by the system.

Look, if you can't understand that this thing costs OVER $200,000 PER ARREST.... not conviction.. then you're just an idiot. (but already knew that)

As for convictions, good luck with that, nobody gets convicted in progressive cities.

$200,00 per arrest Dave. This is why smart people make the decision to pull it when high school GED retards like you keep repeating yourself.

There are times where officers heard shots, believing they were a few blocks away, and shot spotter informed us that they were a mile and a half away.
Interesting how someone like you supports red light cameras, and speed cameras. Despite the fact that red light cameras caused more accidents, and speed cameras affected minorities more than white people.....

Not sure whether to believe Dave posting on a bodybuilding message board, or the city of Chicago's published data.
From quantitative analysis of ShotSpotter data and other records, OIG concludes that CPD
responses to ShotSpotter alerts rarely produce evidence of a gun-related crime, rarely give rise
to investigatory stops, and even less frequently lead to the recovery of gun crime-related
evidence during an investigatory stop. If this result is attributable in part to missing or non-
matched records of investigatory stops that did take place as a direct consequence of a
ShotSpotter alert, CPD’s record-keeping practices are obstructing a meaningful analysis of the
effectiveness of the technology.

As an insider and a professional I'd expect you'd have more to contribute.
And to add, as a taxpayer, you can have anything you need to do your job as law enforcement, IDGAF what activists think, but your chit better work and if it doesn't then figure out something else that does.
