Well...thought this was a good metaphor for the sperrys and polos crew and its dead state of affairs. Time to move on.

They changed manufactures and their quality has gone to chit.

Check the reviews on their website. All the original boat shoe complaints are that the sole splits just like yours did.

I have a pair that I bought 15 years ago. I wear them all the time and still hold up. The pairs I bought in the last 5 years have all ended up in the trash.

bruh Sperrys and Polos never go out of style. Thats why it's Trad. Arnie was rocking his green avocados in the 70's, we had this thread roaring in the 2010's......S&P will never die. Lift, put on some 5" inseams, a polo, and some Sperrys (or equivalent) and look juicy af.

The older you get the more appropriate it looks.

hnnnngg. I wore my Manistee the other day for the Team photo op day.

Need to resole a pair of my dalton boots. They are the grey colored ones and are more casual but I've been wearing them to work basically every day for the last 5 years. They need re-soled badly and some stitch work. Recommend sending back to AE for this? Not sure of their process. Or send to an independent shoe cobbler?

I actually don't have any experience with resoling (yet) but it looks like AE charges $150 for it:

Daltons have a goodyear welt so I would assume that any reputable cobbler would be able to handle it though. It would probably be worth it to see if there's one close by that charges less

I'm on a ******** group for AEs and I've seen a few recent botched resoling jobs from AE that I'm second guessing sending them to AE. Luckily I live in a big city so finding a decent cobbler isn't hard. There are a handful of decent online cobblers that do exceptional resoling jobs.
One small step for OP, one giant leap for *******s.
