Same thing happened out here. I would bet the dems pass pretty much everything they want, regardless. Hope I'm wrong . . . but that's pretty much what they do. They don't tend to back down from ramming chit through when they have the votes.

Im curious what the backfire will be if that's the case. And apparently, the gerrymandering was strong for the last decade. Im sure it's a little tinfoil hat, but everything I can find seems to point to it actually being true.

If they pass gun control, really the only remedy is the R's winning back the state legislature AND the gov office.

Out here, the blowback was pretty epic during and after. 3 dems lost their seats (including the senate president who got recalled). The R's even took back the house and senate for a period. But . . . didn't win the gov spot and Hick would have vetoed any attempt to repeal (and the majority was too small to override). Now the dems have all three again.

They passed red flag law with that. Remains to be seen if they will be emboldened to try something else anytime soon. I'm sure the usual suspects are eager to, but the "moderates" are still wary of going down that road again.

Probably backfire like in CO. Maybe one or two get recalled (probably not, they learned from that, and are changing recall requirements as we speak...which BTW if tyranny isn't defined as changing recall and election laws because you're afraid of being kicked out or replaced, IDK what is) but they continue with D power and the laws they passed stay, and even if some of them don't have teeth to easily be enforced, they have really strong groundwork to work from and it's still a PITA for regular people and it's still just another slice of the cake taken away

Look at the federal situation. Had a big house majority, a majority in the senate (although not 60 R's) and some vulnerable dems. But . . . still couldn't muster putting the HPA up for a vote to at least put the pressure on dems to vote it down. I'll give the dems credit. They stick together. R's eat their own and let the perfect be the enemy of the good far too often.

Dems are actively anti-gun, Rights, and Liberties.

R's are passive on guns they just don't go against them activelyvery oftenbecause there is a block that votes for the non-antis.

Neither major party is actually pro gun, Rights, or Liberties. But nobody else has a chance to win.

Im just curious what will happen since basically every city/county has voted to be a 2A sanctuary and not enforce the new laws if enacted. If you look through most of the elections, like I said, they're only won by a thousand votes or two. And now you've completely emboldened a base where thousands in each city show.

Just when I was potentially about to move back. :-| My first purchase is going to be a nice "tool" carbine AR for HD.

Will be interesting to see. I don't know all of what is being proposed. Outright ban on "assault rifles" with no grandfather, same with "high capacity" mags, and background checks?

Out here, they did UBC and then just went after mags and increased the limit to 15 from the original 10 . . . which they could not pass. And then they grandfathered them and put in the provision that LEO had to prove you didn't own them already before the ban. All of this was also roundly opposed by LEO (so was the red flag law) and still is. So the law on the mags is basically unenforceable and it's a pretty open joke. Huge number of counties out here also passed 2A sanctuary status.

But that becomes a whole different situation if the rofls and mag possession is banned and not grandfathered. How open will the people who keep them be?

If you look it up, it basically bans...everything. Don't think it has a grandfather either. Buddy of mine joked that it takes the "Best" of NY, CA, and IL and rolls it all into one.

People would be stupid to ignore the law openly. The state police has jurisdiction throughout the state. There are going to be local PD's that are not the Sheriff's office that answer to a mayor or board of commissioners etc and not an elected sheriff. Sanctuary county is great 'optics' and sends a message but it doesn't guarantee you anything even right up front, and can change quickly as demographics or votes/elections etc shift things.

They pass the laws, the laws go on the books, no matter what happens after that I would be shocked if the laws get taken back off.

It doesn't mean anything to me anyway with a security clearance. Have to abide by all federal, state, and local laws.

Yup. If that wasn't the case I wouldn't worry. I wouldn't be openly flaunting it in a sanctuary city. Just would be nice to know if someone busted into my house and I used a non-friendly weapon, the locale wouldn't come after me.

Yeah the rules on clearances are very strange...guys have lost Secrets for minor financial troubles. There's a lot of room for subjective interpretation apparently.

Would be curious what happens when he comes up for review though. I'm not sure how fast they get around to revoking them if you get in legal trouble.

it was strange. he got booted from the coast guard for his second DUI, about 2 months later he was back in the building as a civilian and making some solid $$.

Sounds about right. An acquaintance of mine has also had two DUIs, I believe while holding a secret, but didn't have it revoked. He went in for a TS/SCI and probably would have gotten it, but took a different job as far as I know.

LOL . . . no, still have not. I really do want to get a few of those knocked out. Other priorities just keep coming first.

With this latest knee issue, I'm not sure what that's going to end up involving. I think I just tore some meniscus and/or have a little junk floating around (in my already-bad knee). I won't get my MRI results from the ortho until a week from Mon. I have a feeling I'll need to get scoped for some cleanup. If whatever it is isn't a surgical fix . . . then I'm not sure what that will mean for the odds of my future hiking plans.

There's definitely something not right in there. Feels like meniscus to me. It was really bad initially . . . then settled down a bit (but still not right) and then the last few days has started acting up a bit more.

"Give me liberty or give me death" Patrick Henry's speech is just as relevant now as in 1775
“Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”

Patrick Henry’s speech, given on March 23, 1775, has rarely been more relevant than it is now. He gave this speech in a petition to create a Virginia militia to fight for liberty. Just as today, many Virginians were torn between continuing peaceful protest and rising to arms. The parallels between this period and today are uncanny.

Here is Patrick Henry’s take on the issue:

“Shall we try argument? Sir, we have been trying that for the last ten years. Have we anything new to offer upon the subject? Nothing. We have held the subject up in every light of which it is capable; but it has been all in vain... Let us not, I beseech you, sir, deceive ourselves. Sir, we have done everything that could be done, to avert the storm which is now coming on.”

“We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated; we have prostrated ourselves before the throne, and have implored its interposition to arrest the tyrannical hands of the ministry and Parliament. Our petitions have been slighted... In vain, after these things, may we indulge the fond hope of peace and reconciliation.”

The government has openly declared that they will not follow the laws that govern them. They no longer represent the people; thus they no longer derive their power from the consent of the governed. The Declaration of Independence says: “that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it”

We’ve seen the fences, which resemble killing fields, they have erected in the Virginia capital. We’ve seen the armored vehicles mobilized by Northam. The Democrats have floated the idea of using the National Guard against us. With regard to the mobilization of British troops, Patrick Henry said:

“Are fleets and armies necessary to a work of love and reconciliation? Have we shown ourselves so unwilling to be reconciled, that force must be called in to win back our love? Let us not deceive ourselves, sir. These are the implements of war and subjugation; the last arguments to which kings resort. I ask, gentlemen, sir, what means this martial array, if its purpose be not to force us to submission?”

I want a peaceful resolution, but liberty will not be achieved with submission. We need an open display of force. We don’t have to be violent, only to show that we are willing to fight if Northam wants a war. Finally, I will close with this quote for all who say we are not strong enough. Those who say we cannot find victory over what military and police forces would not defect to our cause.

“They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction?”

So it looks like the Army wanted a lightweight rail. Geissele ended up producing a rail in spec with the contract (mk 18) and it sucked.

The video they posted dropping a mk4 over and over again looks promising, but it only proves that the screws weren't loosening, not that the rail wasn't bending. They didn't verify potential zero shift in any way.
