back at it. i walk into a bookstore, eager to make my new stab at it. I see that upstairs lays a little cafe, nice and quaint, very small. i don't take a liking to the barista behind the counter, an older man with grey hair. i sense he's giving me the evil eye as i sit down at a table. nonetheless i ignore him, and to my delight i see just the beauty i sought, sitting in front of me, facing me from the next few tables away. it is a girl with long dark hair. she's wearing this odd outfit with a hoodie unzipped waaay down... and i window shop with contentment.she later gets up and chit chats with the barista on familiar terms, and i feel that his behavior is simply territorial... men... i pay no mind. it's her that i want!

I run down to the bottom floor bathroom and check my hair and clothes in the mirror. i look sharp, with a long sleeve t and crisp looking hair. a few pats and pulls later, i rush back up, bounding up the stairs, anticipating.

i'm not quite sure whether or not i should go in for an introduction. i decide to see if she peeps up from the little phone she's staring at. she keeps on yawning, and i could swear she looks past me, then at me. she keeps this up, and at last i catch her at it.

i take the cup, thanking him. I want to leave, tell the girl i think she's attractive and ask her out promptly, leaving the cafe and exiting the building in one fell swoop. but it's nerves that keep me at bay. i drink and refill my cup, drink and refill at the little water cooler. the girl is sitting, i can see her back, still bent over her phone. phuck it. the only thing that's keeping my self from acting out my dreams is what i think of this baristas opinion. meanwhile i grab a napkin. an idea forms in my head.





i scribble digits down on the napkin, toss my cup and move. i tap her on the shoulder, giggling, guffawing, telling her "hey, here's my digits, call me sometime." i don't look at her . I drop it and start for the stair case. she goes "oh, HEH" and sort of laughs, again as if this is routine. she has this strange way of making things seem routine. i'm chuckling as i descend the stair case and don't look back up at that scene of action. i walk away past streets, clapping my hands and reminding myself, it is just a waiting game, either she calls or i don't return to that place indefinitely.
