Get a life and go outside, the only reason I'd have TV in front of my face is to watch sports... in a bar with friends.

Lol you act like there will never be ANY downtime in college.

I don't care how active you are in the social life on campus, how often you go play on the intramural sports teams, how many hours of classes you take, how much you need to study, or any other extracurricular activities - THERE WILL BE DOWNTIME. There will be times where you are spent from the week and just want to sit and be a vegetable for a while and watch a movie or a few TV shows.

Seriously you need to put your foot down from the start and straighten it out or its going to be more then just the TV thats a problem. Him already telling you this is him expecting you to follow his religion and rules. I would seriously tell him straight out that if he has religious reasons that would effect him from living with someone else he should see about a private room immediately. You do not follow his religion nor will sacrifice because of it.

lmao how the fck does American dorm system work..do majority of kids really share ONE room with a complete stranger? that is weird AF and completely unheard of here in the Uk

Here our 'dorms' are 5-7 bedroom ensuite flats with 1 shared kitchen. I can't imagine having to live in 1 fcking room with another guy lol. Sleep in the same room, fap in the same room, get changed in the same room wtf? is that really how it works?

Better be careful OP, engineering majors are over-represented when it comes to radical religious terrorism. Best not to challenge him on the TV or campus police are gonna be scraping you off the dorm walls.

Also keep an eye on your kitchen appliances, if any of your cutlery goes missing it's because he's using it as shrapnel in a dirty bomb and if he tries to sneak a pressure cooker in there you can be damn sure it's not for making chicken tikka.
