I dont get how people can live at home past 18... much less 21. I would feel like the biggest loser ever if i had to live home. Lol at whining about having to pay student loans and save money. I have paid for my own car, insurance, college loans, everything on my own since i was 16. I used to resent my mom because she could have helped more but now i am so grateful because i am independent and didnt turn into one of these beta's living in their moms basement jacking off with the volume muted because you cant bring a girl home.
Just messing around but seriously however cool your setup is at home, your still at home with the parents and not a real man. if you guys give yourself a safety net youll use it. Take that option away and you'll figure out how to make it

My parents moved to a different state and they didn't want to sell cause they didn't want to nor did they need to, so now me and my sis live in it while my parents still pay the electrical and water and chit.

It's a cultural thing. I come from a family that has their kids at home until they marry. Some kids will live with their parents after marriage as well, until they've renovated their news homes or built them etc... to save on rent.
I'm 25 and at home. F'kn love it. I've been saving my money for over 4 years and not throwing it away on rent which could be $400-600 a week in Australia. Bought my first property last year.
Brb work full time, save most money = money in bank = I can do normal things some of my friends can't = LIKE BUY A MORNING COFFEE - DUH FUK
Brb clothes always washed, mum does cleaning n' washing
Brb food always at home
So many benefits.
BUT, there's lots of sacrifices you give up like independence and constantly being told what to do etc.. Parents rules living under their house etc..
A lot of Anglo- Aussie mates I had at school were kicked out of home and made to fend for themselves. Different culture/family types. Weird IMO.
I'd do everything I could to keep my kids at home until they were financially stable to buy a home.

A lot of Anglo- Aussie mates I had at school were kicked out of home and made to fend for themselves. Different culture/family types. Weird IMO.
I'd do everything I could to keep my kids at home until they were financially stable to buy a home.

$7,893 more a year on average for tuition/room and board at a public four-year in the past 15 years. That's $31,572 extra in four years. Look at the average graduation rate at most universities and you'll see that many students take longer than four years causing even more debt. It's a lot more expensive now than it was 12-15 years ago when you brahs were college-aged.
If someone didn't get good financial aid while in college and accrued a lot of debt, there's nothing wrong with staying with parents a little bit longer imo.
This obviously isn't a counterargument for every single situation, though.
