That's the thing with people.

They take a 6 year loan, keep the car looking like chit, then by the second year they get the new car itch cause they're all shiny and they're driving a piece of chit swirled up garbage can. That's how negative equity trades happen.

I'm leasing my car, I keep it clean AF but I'm already excited that in two years I get to trade up to a better, faster car with no worry about negative equity and a much lower payment than a loan. Or chit, I could buy my car out for similar payments I'm making now, or even drop it off and say goodbye to a car payment. I have options.

Just look at say, the 2016 Civic and a 2013 Civic. What a world of difference in terms of new features. I always want to be up to date with the new technology and features, and improved power.

Lease is for me.
Look, i know i don't really know you and all, and i know you probably hear this like everyday, but your just so perfect to me. The few hours we talked were really great even if the convo was stale, your really pretty and chill, and your country thats just perfect :'D i really dont know how to explain it, but i think i have feelings for you somehow. i never felt like this with someone i just met, but i felt the need to get it off my chest. sorry for being all weird just idk how to explain it D:

That's great, but with lease you're paying the biggest depreciation value of the car, the first 2-3 years, which could be 30-40% of total. You're doing the same thing as buying brand new and selling couple years later

Don't ever put money down on a lease.

Those special offers you see on commercial with $1,500 down and get some super low payment?

Negotiate with those neckbeards to lower the price of the car and you would get the same or even better deal with zero down.

Or do what I did, you get the dealers "final offer" where you've made some good progress.... Ask for a copy of the deal/numbers so you can "review it and think about and DEFINITELY call them back".

Take those fukin papers to another dealer and tell them to beat the deal and you will shake hands.

That's exactly what I did. And I even got the car with added accessories package for the same payment of the first dealer with no added accessories.

Trucks are expensive. A fully loaded Tacoma is closer to $40k MSRP. Then the dealer might have put dealer add ons like a $1000 lift kit and charge $6000 for it.

Whatever car I buy, I keep until it is run into the ground. That is how it should be.

If you are going to buy a new car, then get the base option without electric windows if that is even possible. If you do that, you can get a car for under 10k brand new but it only works on the cheapest cars in production. In 2004, when I shopped for my last new car and was a senior in H.S., it was between a 2004 cavalier with 9 miles for $9,999 out of the door, Scion TC with 4 miles for 12,999 out of the door, or a Kia Spectra for 10,999 out of the door.

Ended up buying the cavalier then paid it off in 2 years and it is still going strong in 2016 with no sign of slowing down. Also have a 2005 malibu so it is going to be interesting to see which car ends up being the actual back up car.

I expect to buy a brand new truck in the next few years and it will be a ford 150 supercrew with minimal options. This truck is the most comfortable truck I have ever driven. Very easy to clean just like those Impalas. There is so much room in the back seat that my dog can literally do a 360 on the floor without having to jump on the seat in order to face the other way.

leasing accomplishes the exact opposite of the consumer taking the hit on depreciation. the lessor determines the residual value of the vehicle at the end of the lease term at the time of inception. if at the end of the lease term the residual value is more than market value, the lessee turns in the keys and walks away, assuming the vehicle is within mileage and condition guidelines. if the residual value is less than market value, the lessee then has equity to use for trade credit, purchase, sell, etc
