you guys are really guzzling down the tip of Elon Musks small white dick arent you?
That presentation was poor, he didn't execute any of his demonstrations: to show how the panel is invisible in direct light (he looks around to his director to wonder why its not working), he talks about global warming like a fanatic for half the presentation, the videos are rendering of crap and the real models just look like toys, for a mathematician he doesn't explain the savings with any numbers or graphs. The website is a mess, just pictures of products and no real substance to convince you to purchase other than making it look futuristic.

No one but rich people and ones who want to feel good about themselves for using green energy can afford or will fork out for a system that takes 10-25 years to pay itself off and then need to be replaced once you get to that point.

Also, interesting read for people who want to lease solar panels from SolarCity (which is owned by Tesla) -http://watchdog.org/212170/surprise-solar-liens/

It's not like we have a backup fleet ready to go.what do you think is the most likely outcome of his rockets ? they continue to fail ? or he succeeds in creating a reusable cheaper rocket ?
As far as reusability goes - it looks ****ing cool. It's also old as hell as someone else pointed out. The reason why it hasn't been done before is because it's costs a lot and you have to reuse them 10 times before you get your money's worth. Has musk been able to reuse one yet? Two?
Not a hater, he's brought a lot of attention to a field that hasn't really gotten much in the past few decades and his company is one of the only ones to be successful at it outside Boeing/Lockheed. Just because he has great marketing, a cool logo, and an old rocket that lands itself doesn't mean he is going to be able to achieve his goal.

Imagine the cost of the tiles, and you can't have Randy and Hernando putting those on the house. Way too expensive.
