So get this whack chit...This male albatross is on an island with 3 million other birds waiting patiently alone for his one and only sloot to return as they spend six months apart during non mating season traveling the ocean...They have a special meeting spot and recognize each other instantly amidst all this and have their own dance they've developed lol...she ends up being very late to return but manages to pull it off before the poor brah has to give up on getting the sexorz and being able to see her ever again.

The first Planet Earth series DVD set had behind the scenes footage showing how they got their shots, i'm hoping this second series does the same.

You just know the camera crew threw him in to make the epic scene.

I would guess that another 5 that they chucked in didn't make it, he was the first.

First episode was fukin amazing.

Nature is cruel... what a life. 20seconds into hatching these little fukkers have to run a gauntlet. What a way to weed out the weaklings.

Just watched the episode. Amazing. I could watch the planet earth series all day long.

If you guys love david attenborough narrated nature documentaries, one came out last year called the hunt:

It's ****ing fantastic. All the episodes focus on various predators.

The reason this series is so fascinating is because they do not interfere with nature, only capture it. They don't need to fabricate scenarios to make nature more interesting or seem more ominous than it really is. What they show you is real. They also have episodes called "Diaries" you can check out that actually show you how they film certain scenes. They are like documentaries of them making the documentary. Check it out if you're a non believer

I want to buy a giant 4K tv just to see this. Can't believe it's been a decade already since the first series. Attenborough + Hans Zimmer + epic nature = eye and ear gasm

If you watch the full ep you see most of them don't get away and are eaten, this guy was lucky.

Haha you serious? They show most of the lizards getting eaten in the full episode. They spent three years filming this series they don't place anything that's how these snakes eat.

Should maybe start replicating a similar scenario for humans maybe we can weed out this entitled, spineless generation that seems to be coming up, all comatose on social media.

That episode was the best TV I have seen. The fact that it is real makes it so much better. Little fuker was born into a baptism of fire. Shows you how cool the animal kingdom is, he was literally hatched for like 10 seconds and he knew the snakes had bad vision and preyed mainly based on movement so he stayed still at first hoping they would miss him. Pure instinct.

Watched westworld a few hours after this and didn't enjoy it one bit

I know Planet Earth 1 took around 10 years to film the entire documentary. Considering that was released in 2006, and this is coming now 10 years later in 2016, I would imagine they were constantly filming over the past 10 years to make this new series of episodes.

Like mentioned above, they followed the crew who sometimes spent weeks to evenmonthson location to get even a single shot for the show. That Snow Leopard behind the scenes comes to mind. I believe that was months trying to get a glimpse of it beings that it is such an elusive stealthy animal
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
