You two realize after weight lifting your body continues to burn calories to rebuild muscle. More muscle = higher tdee to maintain weight. Just lol. Cardio might burn more calories when you run for that 1 hr vs lifting for 1 hr but after that lifting is Superior.

Lost fat and gained muscle so weight is skewed. Same way skinny fat fukkers look awful then when you lift you weigh more a year later but don't look like it

I know what fat weighs and I know what muscle weighs when looking at images and if I had to guess I'd say she went from 210 down to 145-155

anything you do, you get better at doing

anorexics get down to maintaining their bw @ ~500 calories

marathon runners get better and more efficient at doing cardio. Do cardio for 20 minutes and maintain your pulse @ lets say 115 bpm, over time you will have to go from walking, to jogging to running.

Squat once every two weeks, every time you squat you will be sore as hell... squat 4x a week, you will go through hell but stop getting sore, and get accustomed to the volume. Using any tool will make you better at using it. Dieting is a tool, cardio is a tool, and weight training is a tool, overuse any and you will adapt.

to the people arguing about cardio vs weight training for weightloss... how about both? Weight train, burn calories from it, build muscle, become less efficient at cardio.

the yo yo dieting happens because when you diet and do cardio, your metabolism slows and you get more efficient at cardio.... you run into a point where your regime is impossible to maintain, and now a 500 cal slip up in dieting takes exponentially longer to correct because your metabolism is that much slower, and you're that much better at cardio.

want to lose fat? stop dieting brutally hard for long periods of time and doing gruelling cardio year round. Anything you do you'll adapt to - stop adapting.

It actually does, unless you do super high reps with no rest between sets, an hr of cardio can burn 800-1000 calories, you'd be lucky to burn anything over 300-350 calories from lifting weights intensely for an hour, this girls result came from her diet and not replacing cardio with weights

You're talking about the period of exercise. That's fuking stupid. Of course an hour of cardio burns more than an hour of lifting during that hour

You have to look at what is most effective over the long run. Lifting weights wins by leaps and bounds when you consider things like the increased metabolism for hours after cessation and the long term increases due to increased muscle mass

This isn't even a debate.

lol I can't even believe nobody has mentioned this already.

she probably lost more like 50 pounds or something cause she started lifting heavy she gained about 10-15 pounds of muscle mass which is perfectly normal in newbie mode.

and to all the retards that think that cardio is more effective than lifting well lifting weights raises your metabolism so that you are even burning more calories when you aren't even doing anything at all lol.

all of this has been proved several times in the last decades.

This.

People should use their brain and do some logical thinking. In the long run lifting weights will win it from cardio.

The whole lifting vs. cardio debate comes down to this. Losing fat is hard. Creating fat is easy. Cardio works only on the first aspect. Lifting works on both.

Do cardio for a month then stop. Daily energy expenditure is not changed. Net calorie surplus is the same so your body bounces back up to the same equilibrium weight where the sheer effort of carrying your own bulk around is in balance with your food intake.

Lift for a month then stop. You grew muscle. Daily energy expenditure is up slightly. Net calorie surplus is lower so you bounce back a bit slower and your equilibrium weight is a bit lower.

Add in the fact that your psychology acts as an amplifier through motivation, and clearly you are better off lifting.

As a final note, the "muscle burns energy even when you do nothing" idea is kind of bs. The effect is tiny. The real effect is that (up to a point) having more muscle means using more muscle. You work at the same perceived effort level but your wattage is up.
