Hard to choose.

I've been through a lot in my life... **** you wouldn't believe if I told you....

but the hardest was probably losing a particular woman. High school sweethearts, first love, lost virginity to each other, engaged, named our future kids, etc.... I lost her.

That was more painful than anything else. Would have rather gotten shot or something, than to have to go through the pain of losing Love like that.

But now I'm happy, strong, and stoic. Bulletproof and nothing can hurt me again

At first I thought it was when my dad had his first stroke, lost the entire use of his left side. But 7 months to the day december 21, he had another stroke on the other side of his brain, this one was a bleed. I was in the emergency room with him after they had done a scan, they said it was a minor bleed and he would recover and get his speech back. But about an hour later, he was trying to write me a note and started falling asleep, he couldn't hold his hand up or keep his eyes open. Then he lost consciousness and didnt wake up again.

They did another scan and said the bleed was big and he would never recover. The family decided to stop treatment and I had to make the final decision.
My mum and I waited in hospital with him for 8 days, we slept there in chairs and a fold out bed, waiting for him to die. Those were the hardest 8 days of my life, no sleep, no real bed, hospital food. People having conversations around us like Dad wasn't dying.
Mum and I spent christmas in hospital next to dad. In about 10 hours it will be 5 years to the day that he died.

Getting attacked by a pit bull that weighed as much as me was probably the most terrifying and painful experience I've ever had. Not to mention having to drag myself 3 miles to find help.

Last month my dog (who's literally my boyfriend and I's life..sweetest thing to ever walk the planet) ingested some sort of toxin (either that or it's some disease we're currently testing for) and had a terrible reaction. We went to a football game and when we got home she was fine, so I took her for a walk. She wasn't into it, but I didn't think anything of it because it was raining/sleet/snowing. When we got inside the poor thing just stopped. Literally, jumped on the couch and went lifeless. We had no idea what to do, I called his parents screaming and crying, so they directed us. I couldn't breathe. We live in NYC, so we ran to Broadway from Central Park West (2 avenues) with no pants and no shoes on coddling her, hailed a cab and went to an emergency pet hospital. They told us to prepare ourselves because her brain was swelling and she was showing no signs of cognitive response, couldn't breathe on her own, had to be intubated...etc. She racked up 10k worth of medical bills, 90% of which were refundedthat's why all you guys with beloved animals should invest $30 a month in pet insurance

When we got home we scoured the apartment looking for something that could have caused it, but couldn't find anything. Thank god she made it through, but she's still sickly and refuses to eat most of the time. She was already underweight, but she's lost another 2lbs in the past month. We're living in fear that an episode like this will happen again, even though they think that it was most likely just a freak accident caused by toxin ingestion. Since we have good insurance, we're testing her for everything under the sun now.

Holding my dog while he died. Trying to comprehend the reality of what was happening to the best companion I've ever known. Watching the light fade from his eyes as I cried over his face.

I hope yours makes it. I lost mine after his liver failed. In 9 days he went from perfect to gone. Still just can't seem to accept it. Take her back for check ups regularly.

carrying my dad out of his work in my arms as he only weighed 107 pounds after starving himself for months, dropping over 100 pounds) because of depression. he felt like a bag of bones in my arms. we put him in a psych ward where he stayed for 3 months until eventually they did electric therapy on his brain which helped him immensely. they had to remove almost all of his teeth because they rotted from not eating anything. i remember days crying and trying to get him to eat something. the entire time he was depressed he stopped talking. so i was watching my father wither away silently until he was almost gone. this could have ended much worse than it did. i'm glad my father recovered.

He became lethargic and was holding lots of water around his abdomen. He also suddenly became anemic. After draining his fluid he had a really hard time breathing... lots of vet visits during the last few days. I've felt ****ty ever since it happened.

in 6th grade my first week in America I was sitting in a math class. It was dead quiet and everyone is doing work. I raise my arms to stretch and raise my hips from the chair and then BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRPT the loudest fuken fart in the world. The entire class laughed for 15 minutes.
I have been through must more painful stuff that my mind has blocked out but this is all i can remember.

Emotionally: Watched my mom transform over the years from a strict, somewhat abusive, OCD woman into a paranoid psychopath. She beat the chit out of me (a few times literally), tortured and terrorized me and also touched my penor once. Also was bullied and sexually harassed/assaulted by wannabe alpha Chads in high school. It has pretty much ruined my life up to now, and I haven't really been able to form any close relationships with people. My best friends are only people I play online games with, and I've never been in a real serious relationship. My mom died a few years ago, and she was staying away from our family in a condo. Her body was rotting for a month when we found it. Pretty awful sight, and even after everything she did, I wouldn't wish that upon anyone...

Physically: Took some BP medicine doctors prescribed and felt completely weak. Breathing became hard, and I was exhausted getting up and walking to the bathroom. I felt nauseated and disoriented like I was going to die. Also, temporarily went blind to the color green in my right eye once. That was pretty bad.

Also got ganked in DotA a lot.

Life is chit mane.

If you have garden snails where you live they can carry parasites and toxins and dogs will eat them and get infected causing symptoms like that, the parasite ends up in their poop which other snails then crawl on and that's how it spreads

When you're walking them make sure they're walking with their head up - if they want to sniff something you gotta look at where they're sniffing first but don't just let them walk along nose to the ground the whole time. There are many traps for snails in the garden because gardeners hate them (they ruin plants) so get some of those that are safe for dogs too and supervise while she's out there

Lost my mom to ovarian cancer a while back. It was horrible. The cancer was found at a late stage (pretty much no hope)

It progressed swiftly but just slowly enough to torture her physically and mentally. Numerous blood transfusions, constant vomiting from the chemo all while me, my brothers and my dad just have to watch helplessly knowing that we can't stop it and she simply would never get better. Every day, she would wake up worse than the previous day.

On top of that, I had to hear her oncologiest tell my dad that if she had taken better care of herself physically (she didn't do any physical activity) then she probably would have had a fighting chance against the chemo effects.

It was my rock bottom moment in life because it dawned on me that I wasn't doing any excercise either and was eating badly. Lots of weight gained and textbook skinny fat dad bod, etc.

It was that moment of self-reflection that I would be in the same situation in life if I didn't turn things around and that's what got me into lifting and eating right. I made a promise to myself that as long as I'm physically capable, I'll stay in shape, eat right and if some sort of terminal disease or illness is going to take my life, I'll be damned if it's going to be due to my own negligence.

When you're walking them make sure they're walking with their head up - if they want to sniff something you gotta look at where they're sniffing first but don't just let them walk along nose to the ground the whole time. There are many traps for snails in the garden because gardeners hate them (they ruin plants) so get some of those that are safe for dogs too and supervise while she's out there
We're in NYC, so rodents are our garden snails.

Funny thing is, the apartment's exterminator did a routine round earlier on the day she got sick, but we refused to let him spray because of her. He just gave us some mice glue traps to put under the sink and went on his merry way.

My dad was diagnosed with late stage multiple myeloma about 12 years ago. He's still here, and the cancer isn't really that big of a risk anymore, but it broke his back in a few places so he's in a ton of pain all the time now. He's had stem-cell transplants and been on constant chemo since they found it. It has absoloutely eaten the soul out of him, to the point where he's so bitter that no one wants to be around him anymore. I sometimes think that it would have been best for him to go when they found it so that he wouldn't have to live the bitter life he's living now. Chemo and the physical and emotional pain of cancer kills the mind, body and soul.
