Life, still trying to beat it.
I've been stuck on the first quest for 20 years.

gotta go with league of legends. nothing beats that playing competitively with friends. followed by wc3 with friends.
unfortunately the days where friends are available for gaming are over past age 19

Ok so it seems the consensus GOAT for childhood games from MOST of this thread and also from myself areZelda Ocarina of TimeandPokemon Blue/Gold/Silver.
Definetly the case for me as well..... I'd say around 2003ish I mainly started to playing "online games" and the innocence of video games was gone. Online games which IMO is way more addictive and dangerous than the console games we'd play either single player or with others in person via multi screen or in the same room with.
My order of games I had stages of getting somewhat addicted to...lol
Warcraft 3 through middle school
Halo 3 through high school
league of legends through college
thank god I never got into World of Warcraft, or any of those extremely addictive MMOs...I think getting heavy into something like those would have changed by life BIGTIME and not for the better lol.

But if it's supposed to be in my WHOLE life, it's probably this one. Have sunk many, many hundreds of hours in it. Maybe even thousands of hours.

Ones that give instant memories for me:
Pokemon Red - Christmas 98 (Or maybe 97...the year it was released). Remember playing it endlessly over that christmas break and during elementary breaks like recess or in between class or lunch
NBA/NFL 2k - Right when Dreamcast came out. I thought those games revolutionized sports games, which it did, but I was shocked when Dreamcast ended up being a nothing console.
NFL2k5 - Game was so good that Madden had to buy the rights out because they felt so threatened.
Mario Party - Sleepovers during elementary school brought great memories as we compensated having no bishes over by playing endless amounts of Mario Party
Sonic the Hedgehog 1/2 - Those take me back to when I was 4 or 5. Loved those games so much.
NFL Blitz - I mean come on that game was badass
NBA Showtime - See NFL Blitz
FIFA 07 - I love every fifa, but that is what got me into soccer and FIFA games

Hard to pin point really, most played game ever probably runescape by a long way.
I have 1k+ hours on cs.
1k+ on ark
And I had plenty of hours back in the day on metal gear solid and final fantasy 9.
I spent the longest time span playing runescape though started in 2002 and i've played on and off until last year
Honourable mentions are
Pokemon blue, gold, ruby +sapphire.
Zelda:Oracrina of time
007 the world is not enough (goat game on the n64 much much much better than goldeneye.)

Maybe overall its Resident Evil 4, spent loads of time on it and won S rank for all characters. Hunks neck snap was goat
It isn't seen as a 'scary' game but I was terrified at the start when the chainsaw gentleman comes after you and you can hear him coming but you don't kno where he is. I remember running into the room with the shotgun and blasting him then peacing out through the window when he wouldn't go down. I remember saving the dog at the start and the dog helping you when that big man more is coming at you. I enjoyed blowing up that stinker in the barn and stealing his eye LOL.
Another good one I spent time on when I was younger was GoldenEye, played it two nights ago and was shocked how poverty the graphics were, was cutting edge when I originally played it
Mario kart is a classic and I recently defeated all my work colleagues on it on n64 and GameCube, I could Still remember the layout of the courses by heart lol
Battlefield bad company 2 is a great game and it still has large numbers online on multiplayer. The destructable environments and rush mode are still the best multiplayer experiences I've had to this day.
Played ocarina of time but never made it past the water temple, way too hard to do as a youngster but still one of the goats
Its a shame what happened to the resident evil series with 6. I hope they get back on track with number 7.
