I started acrylic painting a couple weeks ago as another one of my many side hobbies. I really enjoy impressionist style paintings (like Monet) and have been free handing a lot of my own stuff from pictures. Obviously look like chit compared to you OP. Much harder without following tutorials and mixing your own colors (white, burnt umber, blue, red, yellow and sometimes a cyan).

Ever since I started painting, I've been enjoying all different styles of art a lot more. The tutorials and vids are like following a recipe. Eventually you'll figure things out and be able. To create things on your own.

Acrylics are not easy.

Bob Ross was all about simple techniques. If you are naturally good at anything, you can do this. That's why he only did landscapes because it is all about making it look like a landscape painting without actually painting it.

You're not wrong but before he got into landscapes he was a traditional artist and did floral and animals as well. Once he learned this technique he wanted to share it. He really believed that anyone could paint.

It is easier than your traditional art styles but it's not quite as easy as it seems. Having the right materials certainly does help though.

I was definitely not a natural at all. I just liked to draw like a normal kid. I doodle a lot. I've always liked to paint though, even if it's house painting but I never tried anything like this.
