People will pick old players because of nostalgia, but in terms of accomplishments no one can best these two. They've been at the top of their game for over a decade and barely show signs of slowing down. I mean this is supposedly Ronaldo's worst season and he's in decline, yet he's scored hattricks against Atletico and Bayern, brace against Bayern, hattrick to win them the CWC, and many other hugely important goals like the last minute FK vs Sporting, and has put in great performances and assists even when not scoring eg. both legs vs Napoli. Also beasting it for the national team.

The way I see it, Ronaldo is the Lebron to Jordan's Messi. Ronaldo is the perfect specimen to play the sport like Lebron basketball, but Messi is just better at most aspects of the sport from a natual standpoint. Just having the chance to watch Messi from his breakout season to now - he has to be the most naturally gifted player off all time. You could tell from the age of 17 that he was going to be something else the way he worked on the pitch and ran with the ball.

What a pleasure it has been to watch the tail ends of careers such as Zidane, Brazilian Ronaldo etc, and then coming into the time of Messi and Ronaldo though. Extremely lucky.
