what about alcohol? how many dui deatqhs are there? what about domestic violence nad murders based upon alcohol? Why no demonization there? What about all the poeple dying from prescription pills?
Lots of things can kill. Demonizing one group while more poeple die from other issues is stupid. Focus on what relaly kills people cuz all ur doing is 'distraction' and encouraging people to engage in stuff that definately does kill them (and others).
ur views wil change if u lose a familyi member to a dui driver i guess.

Never met my grandmother, she was hit by drunk driver.
You are getting defensive about people disliking smoking. I am not telling people to do anything else or distracting anyone. God you are stupid srs

So let me get this straight... If i smoke i die.
So if i don't smoke I'll live forever?
Just lol at the guys that have not embraced death.
Only when you TRULY accept the fact that you ARE going to die, can you begin to live.
Most people don't have the balls to look death in the eye.
They just bury it in the back of their mind.
Think about this right now for a moment....
One day, today or in a few years, you will be at the end of your life. You will be facing death. You will have to accept that at that moment, the biggest fear known to humans is happening to you... You're DYING.
You can't escape it. This is it. Does it hurt. Do you have another way out? No. You're dying RIGHT NOW.
What do you do? There's nothing you CAN do. You die.
If you drink water and don't smoke you won't avoid this.
You'll still have to go through it. And nobody can help you. You die alone. Nobody dies with you.
And even after your heart stops. There is still oxygen in your blood, and blood in your brain.
You will probably hear the doctors day you're dead.
This is pure horror if you can't accept death.
So i have faced death. Yeah i smoke. Yeah i ride motorbikes and do other dangerous things.
I don't give a **** srs. When I die my body will have the scars and injuries I lived with. I'm not one of these collectors that keeps their star wars figures on a shelf in pristine packaging. I rip the box up on the way home. And that toy will enjoy it's life.

What basically happened is most of them were pressured to try it or tried it a long time ago for the novelty, and now they are addicted. The addiction has made them get cucked by the tobacco companies. The minor benefit of being slightly leaner and more alert is highly offset by the negatives, but people still smoke. It's the same reason why people drink or do drugs.
They aren't necessarily stupid. Addiction forces your brain to do weird gymnastics to rationalize your behavior. I remember when I knew coca cola was bad for me, but was still mindlessly chugging that chit. It took a lot to stop, and that stuff is barely addictive compared to real drugs. It takes a lot of will AND some chemical help to quit nicotine.

Some of you guys are missing the point and just basing it on how long you will live or how fast you will die. The most important thing is the QUALITY of life you will be living while smoking. Cant breathe properly, teeth and gums start rotting, cant taste food, coughing all the time feeling like something is stuck in your lungs etc etc.... could go on forever....

i always laugh when beercels hate cig smokers and then go home to a 6 pack (or more).
brb dui
brb emotional, aggressive, sloppy
brb alcohol breath and sweat smells equally disgusting to cigs
brb costs more than cigs
brb fat
brb headaches, hangovers, stomach problems
brb failed organs
brb 350x350% more alcohol fueled related deaths, injuries, assaults, rapes and accidents in 1 year than cigs have ever caused
brb only smoke when i drink, copecel
brb 'i only drink on the weekend, they smoke all day' copecel
brb drunk texts and smashing whales
brb blaming anything on alcohol, cuckcel
brb innocent people are killed violently everyday by drunks and u complain about 2nd hand smoke
brb i need it to fit in or make friends, copecel
brb beergut
brb depression
just goes without saying, if any miscerneedseither a drink OR a smoke within 48 hours you are an addict, no matter how functional or progressive you think you might be.
inb4 i smoke cigs, nope. completely sober in every sense. for the record- dont think im better than anyone who has an addiction, im not, just pointing out the irony with all the cope itt.

Unhealthy as fcuk and smells like chit.
I can confirm the effects on physical performance are almost instant.
As for smart people having been smokers. I obvioisly dont think smoking makes you smarter. Maybe more that smarter people are more likely to end up disconnected from society and just not care.

For example, it's part of the reason why I hate when straight edge type people talk about drugs. They don't know dick and just recite stats and "I've seen firsthand..." statements. I've experimented with nearly every type of psychedelic and common stimulant available and still wouldn't go around throwing blanket statements about substances to the uninformed, it's not my place. I also live a very healthy lifestyle free from addiction. lol @ basing your whole opinion on something on government health propaganda and social trends. "Meth not even once, pot's not bad for you... cigs will kill you" just lmao...
Think about things for yourself, weigh the risks and live your own life.
*Offer to give homeless people rides to the shelter but just drive them way out into the desert crew*

My injuries have come from everything in life that's supposed to be "Ok" and not dangerous.
Smoking doesn't do fukin schit to those around you.
It's not I'm hotboxing a phonebox full of vegans. There's more danger from living in a house near a road that cars drive down.
Comment on my point about FACING THE REALITY OF DEATH pls.

can you get the same cognitive benefits of nicotine with nicotine patches or gum, but without the harmful effects?
(I don't smoke, never will)
Smoking is the worst when you're doing laps at the pool, and some douche decides to light one up by the poolside. Yay, get to inhale all the awful smelling bulchit every time I come up for a breath.

But, overall, I could sit and smoke half a pack or more and feel next to nothing, I smoke Marlboro Blacks or Reds, which are strong. I get bored with smoking after awhile, it doesn't pack enough punch to inspire me to smoke daily.
So, cigarettes cannot be truly addicting.

Don't start smoking, you will waste too much time and money and it will make it harder to get a gf.

btw its not a workout "plan" its a "lifestyle"
thats where you have been failing. Its not a temporary program, its a new way of life.

Smoking contributes to: high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, stroke, drastically increases risk of heart attack and increases the risk of cancers (eso****eal, nasopharyngeal, lung, stomach, pancreatic, renal, colon (I think), etc...)
It's really quite embarrassing this day and age to see someone smoking - and just know the damage they're causing to their body with the current state of knowledge. It's like a prolonged form of suicide.
If we were an educated society and went by facts alone - smoking would have been banned a long time ago.
The fact that cigarettes are still allowed to exist is for reasons only political.
Smoking is the leading cause of preventable deaths in the US along with high blood pressure (which smoking directly induces high blood pressure).

And to those saying 'worry about yourself and let people do what they want.' Actually, let's not - smoking is the definition of 'wasteful spending' when it comes to taxpayers' money and the healthcare industry. The huge drain of economic and fiscal resources in the healthcare system on smoking is enormous. If smokers would just take a reality check - quit (yes, there are many anti-smoking aids these days to help people quit - Nicotine gum/patches, Wellbutrin, etc) - we could divert huge amounts of funding to healthcare matters that need to be addressed.
You think obesity is a problem? Lol, smoking is worse. Much worse.

Smoking as a term is ridiculous.
I will have a smoke, like I have a drink.
I go out for drinks like once a week and have three or four. I will have one or two cigarettes.
I'm had people who know me say "I didn't know you were a SMOKER!!!!!" and I will say, "I don't smoke".
Smoking is like anything else. If you smoke packs a day it's just as dangerous as if you ate ten burgers a day.
My latest thing is that I've been getting ripped, on fast food, since I have little choice due to my lifestyle. I'm just counting cals and macros. People have been pointing out that I look great, am ripped, etc then I say, and it's all on fast food. Their facial expressions are beyond compare, it's like astonishment with disgust.
My follow up line is, "Food is just molecules and it doesn't matter how they're formed, they just need to be the right molecules for your body" and that further blows their mind.
My point is that there's no such thing as all or nothing smoking, so, when talking about it, you'd have to talk about dosage. What dosage of cigarettes causes cancer, and so on. Then you're having a discussion, if not, you're having a "mommy talk" where your mom warns you some mundane activity will destroy you.

1. Cancers are caused by smoking:
Parkin DM et al (1994). At least one in seven cases of cancer is caused by smoking. Global estimates for 1985. Int J Cancer 59(4):494-504. (Cancer prevelance has drastically increased since 1985 regardless)
2. It's well established that smoking causes lung cancer irrefutably. Risk factors for lung cancer: smoking (>90%), asbestos and radon exposure. How often do you hear about asbestos and radon exposure anymore (hardly ever).
Cao C, Lai T, Li M et al (2016). Smoking-promoted oxidative DNA damage response is highly correlated to lung carcinogenesis. Oncotarget 7(14):18919-26.
Though I know no one can tell you what to do - be aware that by stating the fact that you'll continue to smoke (when the correlation with cancer is overwhelming) with such a cavalier attitude, you are indirectly saying:
1. Yes, we should continue spending a large portion of taxpayers (and personal) money in healthcare on reversible causes of mortality and morbidity. And yes, I say 'taxpayers money' as the NIH is funded as such - and the NIH funds research into Lung Cancer therapies.
2. Yes, I know other people have recognized the facts and quit (in attempt to save lives and fiscal spending) - but I'll choose to do the opposite. People have struggled to quit - but nevertheless quit. They obviously had a reason for the struggle.
3. Yes, we know the correlation between cigarettes and cancer - we could divert the funding from working on lung cancer therapies to some other form of cancer for which there is no correlation with a preventable cause (breast cancer for instance) - but nah, let's keep the money in lung cancer
The above reasons are incredibly ignorant. If you think it'll be difficult to quit - there are people and therapies to help you. If you choose not to quit - it is absolutely entirely on you, and yes - many people will see and identify this callous behavior and treat you differently because of such.
