Some people really are naturally prone to certain sleeping schedules. I will always only start to feel truly tired at around 4am, and only ever want to wake up at noon at the earliest. When I follow this schedule, I am fully awake, alert, and energetic throughout my waking hours. But if I try to adjust to a normal work schedule, even if I manage to get 8 hours in, I will be somewhat groggy and lethargic during the day.

I truly believe that how much sleep you've gotten when you were younger plays a role in whether you're a morning person or not. If someone sleeps 2 hours more per day than another person then in 25 years they will have slept 18,000 more hours than the other. I've got no science though.

Pretty much this. Go "no snooze crew". Sit up!

Book a flight at 8 AM and set an alarm, I guarantee you'll get up. So why aren't you getting up when you didn't have a flight? Cause you don't want to.

God gave man the ability to invent an alarm and they did. Man can set multiple alarms just in case man misses the first alarm. Some man set multiple alarms 3-5 min apart. Man should learn to respect the alarm and go to bed early in order to have enough energy to wake man's body early in morning.

Night owl here. Got myself used to waking up naturally at 5AM about a year ago.

Main thing was to keep some caffeine pills or a tall glass of coffee by the bed so that as soon as the alarm clock went off, I could pound back that caffeine. If it's black coffee, it'll be cold and bitter as fuk when you chug it down, which gives an extra kick. Sometimes I'm still lazy as fuk so I go back to sleep, but the caffeine usually kicks in within half an hour anyway so I'm up by the next time my alarm clock goes off.

I also use this "Sleep Cycle alarm clock" app for my iPhone which runs while you're sleeping and guesses when you're in REM sleep based on your movements. The app tries to wake you up after you exit a stage of REM sleep (since waking up mid-REM leaves you feeling groggy) so if you set your time to 5AM, it'll aim to wake you up at the ideal time within the range of 4:30AM to 5AM. And it starts out quietly and gradually gets louder, so it's not as obnoxious. I personally liked to wake up to some Taylor Swift, n-no homo.

I did this routine regularly enough that I started waking up at 5AM naturally and it was quite easy. I actually grew to really like early mornings.

If you really feel like you want to wake up early, you'll wake up early.

Like I consider myself to be a nightowl but if I have work in the morning I'll wake up extra early just so I can get my workout in, because I'll be more upset at myself for not working out that day; than loosing an hour of sleep.

Surprised it took 3 pages for someone to suggest this. One of the best things I've ever purchased.

I'm not a night owl but I am a super light sleeper but here are the things that have helped me get a solid 8 hours every night.

1. get a wake up light. it's a life changer
2. get blackout curtains for your bedroom. you want it to be pitch black when you sleep. they also help keep outside noise down.
3. spend the money for a nice mattress and pillows. do not skimp on this. you don't have to break the bank but definitely get something you enjoy laying down on every night.
4. minimize any distractions in your bedroom. I only have my bed, side table for my alarm clock, ceiling fan and 1 dresser. no posters, no pictures, no wall clocks and definitely NO TV or COMPUTER. your bedroom is to sleep and smash. nothing else.
5. one of the most important things you can do... cut down anything visually stimulating an hour before you want to go to sleep. instead of watching chit on your phone or laptop try to read a book or write in a journal. I found that writing in a journal is very helpful to get things off your mind before trying to sleep. meditation also works well if you can do it.
6. realize you don't just fall asleep instantly. it takes time for you to relax enough to get into a good sleep. if you want to be asleep by 11 you should be in bed by 10:15-10:30 not 10:59.

those have worked really well for me. hope they can help others.
hard to hate on a fellow wings fan but....

i need to cut... badly.

Used to think this way when I was younger. Now that I have a steady 9-5, like to hit the gym x4 a week. I've become an early bird, even on weekends love being up at the crack of dawn and getting **** done, or relaxing before anyone else is even awake.

Tips:
1) YOU MUST GO TO SLEEP EARLY-ish. Once you begin to wake up early you will naturally be tired before midnight. Guaranteed.
2) It's okay to not jump out of bed when ur alarm goes off, roll around for a bit but don't close ur eyes. Get on ur phone and check ur e-mails, ********, whatever for a few mins. Helps u finally "wake up"
3) If you like to have coffee in the morning, set the machine to automatically make it the night before. (I like to gym @7:30am, So I set the machine to brew @ 6:00am and I'm up by 6:05-6:10 drinking coffee, relaxing, miscing just "waking up".)
4) You need to HAVE A REASON to be up early. I like to lift, make sure I have time to cook a solid breakfast, and futz around at home not rushed before work everyday. I have things to do in the AM. Even on the weekends, I LOVE being on the beach @ 8:00am, sun coming up, empty sand for miles. Drinking the first beer of the day... Its glorious brother.
Are you not entertained?

Its easier said than done. Especially when you are a super light sleeper and have sleep apnea.

I cant even tell you the last time I slept and felt rested in the morning.

My body is adjusted to the 11pm-7am schedule and I have work for 8am.

Probably it'll take your body a "little time" to get use to the new schedule. After that I bet you're good to go.

One loud ass fuking alarm that you know for sure will wake your ass up, and then get the fuk out of bed the second it goes off.

No laying there, not snooze. Just get the fuk up.

Your training your body to ignore your alarm rather than use it as a signal to get up.

Silent alarm on my fitbit for when I'm waking up before my wife.

Otherwise, regular alarm, and the Hue lights in our room turn on 10 mins before that to help you wake up naturally <--- Goat.

you have to actually need to get up for something.. or trick yourself into really thinking you do..

for example if you have to wake up at 4 am to go to work.. you dont have an option.. that alarm goes off you wake up...

if you do that on an off day you will think lolno im sleeping more..

you have to trick yourself somehow into going through with it until its a normal cycle..

You have to shock your system. I have to be at work by 6am. I was up at 5:40am. I stangely find it way easier than getting up at 7. Just try waking up at like 4 or 5am and youll get used to it

Only thing that has helped me is a sleep app that wakes you up when you're out of REM cycle. If you're in REM and you wake up, you'll be groggy as ****. There's been times where I get like four hours of sleep and feel good just because the alarm went off when I was at my lightest sleep.

You're looking at a guy who can easily sleep for 12 hours if you give me the chance.

Also, the older you get the harder it is, because me waking up early is entirely built upon motivation. If I am not motivated, I won't wake up early. I have to be excited about something.
