Men just have to do 3 things before their morning coffee.

The 3 S's.

S hit
Shower
Shave

Profit.
I'm not blessed with riches, but I am rich with blessings.
Thank you, LORD, my God.

Well from what I've read, journaling is something a lot of successful people have in common. It's not a teenage diary with stories about boys, but just a way to organize your thoughts, and to write down your goals and your progress towards those goals.

I have a morning ritual that I need to share. I call it "the terminator". First I crouch down in the shower in the classic "naked terminator traveling through time" pose. With my eyes closed I crouch there for a minute, visualizing either Arnold or the guy from the second movie (not the chick in the third one because that one sucked) and I start to hum the terminator theme. Then I slowly rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me to proceed through my day as an emotionless, cyborg badass. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It ruins the fantasy.

No thanks, I'll stick to popping an ******** then waiting the minute and half for my water to heat up in the microwave so I can mix in my instant Cafe Bustelo coffee and contemplate how much crap I have to deal with today.

If you're waking up at 4, are you going to bed at 9PM? I really don't function well on less than 7 hours of sleep, unless it's for short periods.

I get up at 7, get everything done and get to work before 9. I enjoy lifting in the afternoon, and my "free hours" line up better with when stuff is open. I can't go grocery shopping at 4AM, I can at 7PM.

Who cares what anyone else does? Do what works for you.

You don't even need to turn the music off to be honest. There's just something about being 40mins deep in a pretty intense cardio session + epic song + thinking of how I'm going to crush my career, make my family proud, be a good friend to my homies, treating my body with respect by working out, being more thoughtful about my attitude with others, etc. etc. It's an epic high and really associates the cardio high and good feels from music with how I feel about my challenges in life. would recommend, dead srs.

"Hi everyone,
Just a little bit about myself: Early 30's. Married, no kids. I start work at 7AM.
4:15AM - I wake up. Immediately upon waking, I throw back a big glass of cold water - this part alone will help kick-start your morning.

I do a few minutes of exercise, such as push-ups, jumping jacks, stationary bike, squats, anything to get the blood flowing. The intention is to wake up the body, not to burn fat or build muscle. I follow that up with an ice-cold shower. I've had a cold shower every day for the last 6 months, and I can honestly say that it has completely changed my life. Do some research, and you'll see that it has great physiological benefits in terms of your immune system, skin, hair, circulation, etc..

After the cold-shower, I practice quiet meditation, typically for 20 minutes. This practice of focusing on the breath, catching yourself in thought, and bringing attention back to the breath, is a real life-changer. Needless to say, this affects every aspect of your life. I quite often find myself observing my thoughts in everyday life, and rather than giving into the thought & following through with the subsequent action, I am able to break the pattern and retain control of my decisions. Not to say that I'm able to do this every minute of every day, but even an incremental improvement in this area has a profound effect on the quality of one's life.

After meditation, I make a tea, then sit down to write in mygratitude journal. Most times, I'll go into great detail when listing at least 3 things for which I'm grateful. I often find that once I start writing, i quickly realize new ways in which I can be grateful for absolutely anything! It's a really beautiful practice. Some days, I'm able to complete this in 5 minutes. Other days, I'll sit there and struggle to find even the most obvious blessings. These are the days I most need to practice.
After writing in my journal, I'll spend the remaining 45-60 minutes reading a book. So far, this only includes self-improvement books. I find them to be incredibly motivating, and it really carries through into the rest of my day.
That's my routine. And here is how I feel it has changed my life:

I wake up and take control of my emotional state, which in turn affects my perception of my day. What is life, besides what we perceive it to be? If I can take control of my own perception of my experience, then I'm no longer at the mercy of circumstances. I no longer hope to have a good day - I make damn sure of it. I now walk up to that same river, fully equipped with a small raft, some paddles, and even a trolling motor. Iโ€™m able to somewhat steer the boat, and occasionally pull up on shore and watch the river go by.
We are incredibly powerful beings, us humans. We need to wake up and realize that we CHOOSE the experience we have, and that we have the ability to make it a positive one! I wish for nothing more than for everyone to realize their infinite potential, and for all of us to make our lives a waking dream.

Cold showers, meditation, gratitude journaling โ€“ each one of them is a tool to help steer my boat.
What are your tools? Iโ€™d love to hear them.
Thanks for reading. Peace & Love."

Reddit seems to be the space for all the new, hip, retro, spiritual, game changer style posts.... personally, I think a lot of it is horse chit and is just a smokescreen for people trying to find a purpose in their day-to-day life.
