I think there has always been an issue but its only gotten a little worse because of social media, female's increasing their standards (because they can), and guys becoming more socially awkward...
If I had to guess I'd say 80% or more of males have normal social interactions/relationships. Its probably less then 10% of guys that are socially awkward/weird as hell.
If you aren't physically repulsive (look and smell) and are a normal guy that can initiate and hold a normal conversation there will be no issues. If you walk up to some female and the only thing your thinking about is fukking her and trying to seduce her good luck.

At this point it isn't my lack of confidence but the only times I even see women are at the gym or grocery store. Only way I'd get anywhere is by cold approaching females I don't really even know. Which generally wouldn't lead anywhere.

Its a combination of several factors, can't pin it on any one thing. My theory is that feminism and declining test levels are the main culprits. Feminism has men scared to talk to women unless they already know them. We've all heard the false "sexual harassment" charges being passed around like candy in modern western society. On top of this every year men are getting fatter and weaker. Our diets get worse, all the fake unnatural foods we are eating combined with a lack of exercise makes us fat and puts our hormones out of whack. Males today are much much more docile, shy, reserved, and effeminate than every generation before us. This is by design.
As for the males that still have high test levels and think feminism is a bunch of BS. These guys probably don't put up with women's sh*t test, and spend their times enriching their own lives financially, spiritually, relationships with friends/family, hobbies,ect and only use women to satisfy their sexual desires and nothing more.

And can someone tell me where op is getting this phenomena of men being scared of women from? I hardly witness FAs in public. I've seen ugly and average dudes with cute chicks. Sure some men are scared of women, but I've never witnessed it myself as extreme

I don't think its any different than it ever was. Attractive and/or outgoing guys still talk to girls and less attractive and/or introverted guys don't. The difference is, with the rise of single motherhood, you are getting a lot more of those introverted guys who probably don't take good care of themselves, so they will either be overweight or underweight and don't work out at all.

Because young men grow up spending all their time talking to people online and through the phone and never develop basic social skills. The problem is more significant with males than females as females are more biologically inclined for social aptitude. That said, I've noticed that younger women have become increasingly awkward as well and tend to be more comfortable texting than actually talking in person or on the phone.

Number of reasons. Most people we're exposed to on TV and the internet are legit 9-10/10 models or actors, so a feeling of inadequacy or otherworldly standards is developed (refer to the Misc for confirmation). The internet and instant gratification ****ing with out brains. Liberalism and the rape culture/ feminism in general: it's like a paradox where a large portion of women (and men) sleep around, but then read about **** like withdrawing consent after they've slept with someone; they also, as mentioned in the first point, have ludicrous exceptions for a long-term mate (a problem for both genders, but more harmful for females).
There's other contributing factors, but it's not exactly a stunning revelation that men have decided to check out socially.

It's because girls have always been waaaay better at socializing, their words can make or break a young boy's confidence.
In the past, you'd have dads and other male role models to show you how to deal with psychological games by females. Don't have that anymore and any kind of rough and tumble behavior by young kids is banned, so young boys just sort of don't learn how to deal with it.

I'm only scared of talking to white women since they're the ones that are extremely anal about things like race and height. They also tend to have the highest standards because every other guy wants them.

Different reasons. Women generally have high standards and the media encourages it. Approaching women can be considered creepy and flirting with women can be considered sexual harassment, especially if you are unattractive.
More guys spend too much time on the internet/social media and become socially awkward. You have to talk to people everyday in person to have good social skills. And last but not least - fear of rejection.
Unfortunately, a lot of this applies to me which is why I've never been in a real relationship at 25 and I'm considered attractive. But I also have pretty high standards when it comes to dating also.

Fear of being rejected by women is a survival instinct, hardwired in our DNA. For tens of thousands of years humans lived in tribes. Back in the days, if a man approached a woman and was rejected by her, than the other women in the tribe would think that something was wrong with him, so they wouldn't mate with him either, and he wouldn't reproduce. Also if he approached a woman that was already taken, then he ran the risk of being killed. Adultery is still punishable by death in some barbaric parts of the world.
